‘An accountant earns £40k per year and is charged out at 2.5x that, i.e. £100k. He spends 2.5 hours out of an 8-hour working day using Excel and scores 32.5% right on our Filter questions (i.e. that’s his baseline level of expertise). With relevant training and dedication he raises his level to 50%.’

2.5 / 8 * £100,000 x [50 - 32.5] / 32.5

= £16,826.92

PROFICIENCY INDEX

30 years since its launch, Microso Excel is more popular than ever.

1 billion people use the program.

A survey of 250 professionals indicated that workers use Excel for more than an hour every day.

For example, these 45k workers only got 28% of our Filtered Excel questions correct.

Accountants, understandably confident at Excel, were only the 3rd most proficient group of professionals.

Almost 50% of the questions were answered incorrectly, even by top accountants.

However, our study of 45,000 oice workers revealed that, despite using Excel daily, major, fundamental knowledge gaps are the norm.
