Disease Epidemic and Severity of Rice Blast,
Rice Brown Spot and Rice Narrow Brown Spot
in Lower Yom Basin Off-season Rice
Using Geo-Informatics
Objectives
-Show the case how to use geo-informatic and space technology to support the research of rice disease epidemic and severity in the Lower Yom Basin
Study Area
Lower Yom Basin
-Covered 2 districts of Phitsanulok province
-Covered 3 districts of Phichit province
-2,000 Sq.Km
Method1. Satellite use LANDSAT 5Supported by GISTDA 6 date beginning from December 2008 - May 2009
2. Paddy field surveyRice diseases diagnosis and grading disease severity of 3 diseases symptoms - Seedling stage 1 – 30 days- Tillering stage 31-51 days- Flowering Stage 51-80 days- Maturing Stage more than 81 days
3. Recorded the coordinate of sampling plots
4. Confirmed the diseases causing agents under compond microscope in laboratory

Conclusion
Rice blast disease severity was decreased from January to May. Off-season rice growing area showed moderately disease severity in 33.02 of planting area. But showed low disease severity in 82.27% of planting area.
- Rice brown spot symptom was not found on December and January. But rice brown spot disease was increasing in infection area on February until May, in the low level of disease severity.
- Rice narrow brown spot symptom was not found on December and January. But rice narrow brown spot disease was increasing in infection area on February until May, in the low level of disease severity
