C&CR definition is the basis for WBL Assessments related to C&CR outcomes
will be used by supervisors following internships
We will be developing methods to assess progress toward mastery of each of these outcomes by grade level

Students’ Roles and Responsibilities
Actively participate in school and workplace experiences
Develop meaningful learning objectives Participate in reflection activities to

District Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain and support policies and protocols to make work-based learning a viable method for helping students meet academic standards
Support teachers’ professional development to ensure they maximize the opportunities at the workplace
Leverage available resources to make sure that work-based learning is supported within small learning communities

Parent/Guardian Roles
Ensure students complete paperwork and curriculum requirements
Support successful completion of internship
Communicate with school personnel to monitor progress
Participate in celebratory activities

Teachers and Other Staff Roles
Provide support for students and employers Monitor student performance in the
classroom and in the workplace and resolve any issues that arise
Prepare students for the workplace with multiple WBL experiences

Advisory Board Responsibilities
All WBL experiences are linked to strong advisory boards and community employer resources
How strong is your Advisory Board? Review work-based learning activities and
curriculum and provide input Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the
academy’s work-based learning program and recommend improvements
Connect individually with students around career plans

Provide support in the classroom around topics relevant to the workplace
Assist in fundraising to defer additional costs associated with work-based learning activities such as transportation
Provide internships and other work-based learning experiences
Recruit businesses and other partners to provide internships and other work-based learning experiences

What organizations in your community play a “connecting and convening” role with both education and employers/community leaders?
Serve as intermediary to connect teachers and other school personnel and students with businesses

All students complete a sequenced set of work-based learning experiences as defined by the Internship Gold StandardsA three- to four-year series of coordinated and sequenced work-

that students are provided with learning opportunities that build
in sophistication, duration, and intensity and ultimately prepare
them for compensated internships. In our academy, a

The academy develops and sustains a program of compensated internship experiences

Students, teachers and internship providers collaborate to support the student’s career goals.
Written individual student learning and college/career plans allow for differentiated skills levels, and alignment with student interests, internship experiences and targeted debriefing, reflection, and evaluation
