UseflowchartsandmindmapstovisuallyrepresentthechangesthatareoccurringinSydney’sInnerWest.Youmaychoosetogroupyourideasaroundspecificsuburbsordevelopments.

ConductalandusesurveyofMarrickville.Useanoutlinemapofthesuburb,andshadeindifferentcolourstorepresentdifferentlanduses(yellow–lowdensityresidential,brown–highdensityresidential,red–commercial,grey-industrial,blue–publicfacilities/institutions,green–recreation).CompareyourlandusesurveytotheproposedplansforMarrickvilleanddescribethelandusechangesthatwilltakeplace.

DeindustrialisationSydney’sInnerWestisstillexperiencingdeindustrializationasindustriallanduserscontinuetomovefurtherwest.ZoningforhighdensityresidentialdevelopmentshasexacerbatedtheincreaseinlandvaluesofindustrialpropertiesinInnerWestsuburbs.Asaresultsomeofthelastremnantsofthesuburbs’bluecollar,industrialworkingclasshistoryarebeingredeveloped.OldwaterfrontindustrialsitessuchasRozelleBayandWhiteBayhavealreadybeenrezonedaspartoftheBaysPrecincturbanrenewalinitiative.RecentrezoningforhighdensityresidentialhousinginsuburbssuchasMarrickvilleandDulwichHillwillseeadeclineinsmallindustriesincomingyears.
