I’m Back form my assignment in Canada!!! One of two things happened, either I did a really good job and
they don’t need back in Canada or I didn’t do a very good job and they don’t want me back. I like to think
it’s the first option. It was a good experience as far as the job and people go but terrible from the weather
perspective. It was the worst start of winter Edmonton Alberta has had in forty years, that’s forty years!!!
It was at -25 degrees and 26” of snow on the ground when I left. To put it all in perspective it was 100
degrees warmer while we were on the Corvette Sea Cruise (see article) than in Canada.
I would like to thank all the TOGCC members that stayed in touch with me while I was away, the calls and
e-mails were enjoyable.
I would also like to thank Vice President Roy Arnold for a great job in providing the club strong leadership
throughout the last couple months. I think he is a natural and ready for President in 2008. What do ya’ll
think?
How could we start a new year without thanking the officers from 2006. They did a great job in maintain-
ing and growing the club. We also raised more money for East Texas Angle Network that ever before.
When you see them make sure you let them you know you appreciate their efforts. Vice President - Roy
Arnold, Secretary - Nell Horn, Treasure - Linda Spicer, Activities Director - Clinton Hearn, Newsletter Editor
- Allen Bales, Webmaster - Jim Spearman and Board of Directors Member Doin Tipton. There are also
non-officer positions that contribute a lot to keeping things going, Club Apparel - Larry Horn, Courtesy Co-
ordinator - Nelda Arnold, National Corvette Museum Ambassador - Chuck McGregor and Public Relations -
Wayne White.
We are ready to move into 2007 with club officers in place ready to plan another exciting year. There was
only one officers position that changed during Decembers elections, Activities Director. Stephen Lott
(AKA “SOCKEYE”) was elected to lead the clubs activities in 2007. We look forward to his enthusiasm, he
is fired up! Last time I saw him he was all red in the face just trying to tell me about all the exciting things
he is planning.
The holidays always give us time to reflect and think about all the things we have to be thankful for. Out-
side of my family I am thankful for being part of TOGCC and being able to share my passion and experi-
ence in Corvette’s. We have a great group of people who know how to have a good time. As we go
through our day to day jobs or activities it is nice to look forward to going on a Corvette activity because
you know everyone is enthused and wants to be there, that is a formula for fun.
Last but not least take time to think about all the men and women in the US Military who won’t be home
for the holidays because they are in Iraq fighting for the freedom we take pleasure in. God Bless Them!

TOGCC CORVETTE
SEA CRUISE
I found out going on a sea cruise is not like going on a Corvette weekend to the mountains, it becomes open season on the lug-
gage form hell. Cindy Bagley from Cindy’s Travel Emporium did a great job on booking TOGCC on the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy.
Several members went down to Galveston on Sunday and stayed at the Hotel Galvez. The women wanted to get an early start by
taking advantage of a nice seafood dinner at Casey’s and take in the shopping on the Strand. The rest of the cruisers showed up
on Monday to embark the ship. I believe it was the firs time TOGCC has taken a trip out of the country. I didn’t realize how tough
it would be to get our women members through customs. Most of them were questioned about the amount of luggage they were
trying to get through! After getting everyone on board it was on to check out the very nice accommodating cabins. We were all on
the same level called the Promenade deck which was located about the center of the ship. Now it was time to check out the rest
of the ship, first stop was lunch on the Lido deck. Hey the ship is moving!! We were at sea that night and the next day docking in
the port of Progreso Mexico at 7:00 a.m. the following morning. There were several activities to choose from, some went to the
Mayan Ruins, some went on a Dune Buggy driving tour and some just went shopping. I viewed that as a dangerous option so went
with a safer activity. Everyone had to be back on the ship by 3:30 p.m. so we could continue on to Cozumel. Once the women had
a learned how to wheel deal and beat down the vendors to the last penny we were in trouble for the next stop where the shopping
was even better.
We are in Cozumel! I think shopping was the hot activity for most. What were they thinking! Some opted for a safer activity Scuba
Diving. We all had great stories to tell once we gathered back at the ship. Make sure you ask about the wild jewelry shopping, the
vendors that were calling out our members by first name and the thrill of being 100 ft. under the water, the shows and all the
other activities. As all good time have to come to an end it was time to head back to Texas. It was a really fun trip with great
friends.
Thank You, Cindy Bagley for the complimentary bottle of wine for each cabin and the $25.00 credit towards our ship fun.

Christmas Cruise Christmas Cruise Christmas Cruise Christmas Cruise
Corvettes lined up to head to Kilgore and view the Christmas Nativity display at Forest Home Baptist Church which Bill and
Faye King attend. The King’s are gracious in inviting us for the Forest Homes Christmas In The Woods drive through display
topped of with a hot chocolate on a chilly night. The Christmas and nativity scenes are outstanding and very well presented.
We also took a ride through downtown Kilgore to view the Christmas decorations and finished with a stop at The Back Door for
a burger. It was a nice Saturday night local cruise. Thank You Bill and Faye King
December 2nd we had our Christmas Party at the Roseville Bed and Breakfast in Marshall. We all met at the Brookshire’s in Hallsville. The meal was buffet and it was delicious. There was around 40 something members that were there. After dinner we caravanned to Vickie and Jim Spearman’s house for the present exchange.
The gift exchange is always a hoot with our members. Susie Rohner had #1 so she got to pick first. Since she was #1, she was able to “steal” a gift at the end if she wanted. Herman got there after the gift exchange had started, so everyone saw the bag that she brought. Linda Spicer decided she would pick the gift Herman brought because she just knew Herman’s gift would be nice. Boy was she surprised when she opened her gift and saw that it was the same gift that Russ had gotten last year. I’m sure they are using that gift a lot right now as cold as it has been. Linda, you could use that at work. Have it under your desk keeping your little toes nice and warm!!!
Now, if you weren’t there you really missed it when Mary White opened her gift. It was RED & BLACK, and SEQUINS AND SILK and came in his and her outfits!!!! Wayne’s face matched the RED boxers. I could not believe that Mary kept trying to give them away.
There were a lot of gifts that were exchanged several times. Of course, the usual Corvette stuff went around all three times. There were some Corvette boxers that Dennis Dick got. I can’t remember if he was the lucky one that got to take those home.
At the end, Susie gets her chance to take a gift from anyone she wants. She walks around the room and to all of our surprise … she picks Mary’s gift!!!! Ed tried on the RED boxers and I believe he left the party in them. I hope he didn’t get stopped on the way home. That would have been a nice little story to hear.
If you have never made one of the Christmas parties you really need to do this. We all have a really good time.
Thanks to Vickie and Jim for having all of us in their home again. You’re the best!!!! Sheryl Caraway (Thanks for the article)
Touch Of Glass Christmas PartyTouch Of Glass Christmas PartyTouch Of Glass Christmas PartyTouch Of Glass Christmas Party
I’m going to write a brief outline about our TOGCC Christmas party. Requested by our Prez. (Because I really wanted too!) (Russ)
We all met at Brookshires in Hallsville and caravanned to the restaurant (Bed and Breakfast) in Marshall. Sorry I can’t remember the name of it, but it was a real treat. The food was delicious as it was last year. After eating as much as we could and still walk to our cars, we made the trek over to Jim and Vickie Spearman’s lovely home in Honey Suckle Farms for the exchanging of gag gifts.
There was some pretty funny stuff that went on, like the gift that Mary White got from Victoria Secrets. After all the laughing and losing gifts Susie Rohner took the gift from Mary and she and Ed modeled it for us. Ed really looks good in red satin shorts and Santa hat. They looked like Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause. Later we found out that our sweet little quite Amy was the one that brought the lingerie. Way to go Amy!
At the end of the party everyone was standing around talking and making pictures, when all of a sudden the candles on a table were knocked off onto the floor and got wax all over Vickie’s carpet. We all felt so bad and everyone was giving advise on how to get it off. I’m not sure anyone came up with a good solution, but I understand they got the wax up, but wouldn’t you know the candles were red and left a stain. Poor Vickie! If anyone has a good solution to removing stains from candles, give Vickie a call. After that and all the advice we all left, leaving Jim and Vickie with the problem. Nelda Arnold (Thanks for the article)
