KATHUA, May 4: The irateresidents of Ban near Dayala Chaktoday staged a demonstration andblocked Dayalachak -Ramkoteroad for one hour.

The protestors were demand-ing immediate replacement oftransformer which has beendamaged over a four days in thearea and people were facingmany hardships in this hot sea-son.

Later the civil and policeauthorities visited the area andpursued the people to lift theblockade. They assured them thatthe transformer will be installed bythis evening. On their assurancethe people dispersed and later inthe evening the transformer wasinstalled.

Meanwhile, the residents ofborder village Bhambra - HaryaChak of Raj Bagh area todaystaged a protest demonstration infront of DC Office Kathua for thefailure of authorities to renovate

the border road in the area which isin dilapidated condition for last 10years.

The protestors alleged thatdespite repeated pleas the authori-ties have failed to take the con-struction of road in hand till date.

Later the DC assured the pro-testors that the tenders will becalled soon for construction of theroad.

Woman found deadunder mysterious

JAMMU, May 4: Awoman was today found deadin mysterious circumstancesin Bishnah area of city out-skirts.

According to a policespokesman, one Lovely Saini(32) wife of Prabu Saini, aresident of Kothay Saini wasfound dead in her room undermysterious circumstances.

He said the body of thedeceased was shifted to mor-tuary room of GovernmentMedical College andHospital, Jammu for postmortem.

“A case in this connectionwas registered at police sta-tion Bishnah and inquest pro-ceeding initiated”, thespokesman added.

Illegal allotment of 75 kanalGovt land cancelled

MENDHAR, May 4: DyCommissioner Poonch, MHMailk today cancelled the illegalallotment of nearly 75 kanals ofGovt land to some families locatedat Bhera village near Mendhar.

Nearly 330 kanals of this Govtland had been demarcated forSports Stadium near the townsome time back. Some people inconnivance with the localRevenue staff managed to get thesaid land under Khasra No. 689alloted in their own name. Eventhey managed fraudulentGirdawaris of the land.

SDM Sher Singh when cameto know about the matter duringeviction operation recently, wrotethe matter to DC in details. The

DC k sought the factual reportfrom the SDM and after beingconvinced canceled the allotment.He also directed the SDM andSDPO to get the land cleared.

The DC when contacted saidthat Revenue officials responsi-ble for the act have been identi-fied and legal action will betaken against them shortly. Hesaid that Govt will get this landcleared and if needed FIR will beregistered against the accusedofficials.

As per police sources, ateam from Pallanwala policepost laid a naka at Thandi Choiand intercepted a vehicle bear-ing registration JKO2BJ-7496.

During checking, police res-cued 3 bovine animals andarrested three persons, whohave been identified as SurajSingh, son of Raghunath Singhof Chak Malal, Arjun Singh,son of Ajeet Singh of Matooand Bishan Lal, son of MulkhRaj of Matoon.
