AUSTIN - Governor GregAbbott today announced thatOmnicare, a CVS Healthcompany, is partnering withthe State of Texas to provideCOVID-19 point-of-caretesting for assisted living fa-cilities and nursing homesthroughout the state. Thispartnership will provide on-site same-day testing and re-sults for both facility staff

and their residents. “This partnership with

Omnicare and CVS Healthwill increase COVID-19 test-ing in our assisted living fa-cilities and nursing homesand help us protect vulnera-ble Texans from COVID-19,” said Governor Abbott.“Our collaboration with pub-lic and private entities is cru-cial to ramping up testing in

Texas and mitigating thespread of this virus—espe-cially among our most vul-nerable populations.”

“At Omnicare, we arecontinuously exploring solu-tions to directly addressavailability and access toCOVID-19 testing for thelong-term-care industry,”said Jim Love, OmnicarePresident. “We recognize the

disproportionate impact theCOVID-19 pandemic hashad on these critically impor-tant healthcare facilities andtheir highly vulnerable pa-tient population, and we aredetermined to be part of thesolution as demand for test-ing continues to grow in thissector.”

These test sites help en-able a goal of processing up

to 100,000 tests in the firstmonth alone. Testing in as-sisted living facilities beganyesterday, July 9th. State test-ing teams completed testingof all nursing home staff andresidents in June at the direc-tion of Governor Abbott.Omnicare will begin testingin nursing homes next week.
