WHAT IS
CONFINEMENT?

Confinement is…
…a strict post-natal period whereby mother and child are “quarantined” at home for a
month. It is practised in various Asian cultures.
Why practise confinement?
It promotes a new mother’s recovery from the rigours of pregnancy and
childbirth.
