Mr. M. Raju (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted an
extensive tour of Jammu city and inspected the ongoing Projects under Atal Mission for
Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) as well as developmental works of
Corporation being executed at different sites viz. MAM Stadium, Drainage Project from
Pawan Ice Cream to AG Office, Up-gradation/construction of drainage from Kamla Place
on words, construction of drainage from Top Sherkhania, Sarika Vihar and also
inspected green patches being developed at Jeevan Nagar etc. Funds under AMRUT
meant for undertaking construction of lanes, drains, deep drains, nallahs, developmental
of green spaces and parking etc. so that there can be no obstruction in free flow of water
during monsoon, providing of parking facilities to the citizens as well as development of
green spaces to give neat and green look to the city and also to create healthy
atmosphere. He also inspected the ongoing works of Bus Queue Shelters at Kunjwani
Bye Pass road. He gave on spot directions to the concerned officers for completion of
ongoing developmental works in a time bound manner and also directed them to directly
approach him in case they face any difficult in respect of on going development works.

meeting in connection with celebration of World Environment Day on 5th of June 2017. In
order to celebrate World Environment Day, Jammu Municipal Corporation is organizing
awareness programme on source segregation with the participation of social
organizations, NGO’s, students and general public. In the meeting arrangements for
celebration of event were finalized.
As per schedule of the event a rally shall be flagged off from Mini Market
Trikuta Nagar at 07:00 A.M which shall culminate at JDA Park Opp. RBI Bank Railway
Road at 07:30 A.M where Plantation of saplings, Swachhta and source segregation oath,
performance of Nukad Natak and Prize distribution to the winners of wall painting
competition & Swachh Jammu Opinion Poll shall be done.

JMC organized wall painting competition
In order to celebrate World Environment Day on 5th of June 2017, Jammu
Municipal Corporation organizing a number of awareness programs on source
segregation with the active participation of social organizations, students and NGOs,
general public and field functionaries of JMC
Today on 3-6-2017 as a part of awareness program, Commissioner Jammu
Municipal Corporation, Mr. M Raju (IAS) inaugurated a wall painting competition at
Right side of the wall adjoining footpath from Asia Chowk to Govt. Women collage Gandhi
Nagar, Jammu. A large number of students of different schools and colleges such as
SRML Higher Secondary School, Commerce Collage, and Science Collage participated in
the wall painting competition. Students who participated in the competition are
Himanshu, Vishal Sharma, Ayush Jamwal, Suman Preet Kour, Shubam Bali, Sourav
Pandey, Karandeep Singh, Sarabhjeet Singh, Mohinder Kumar, Aman Kanathia and
Shakil Ahmed.
Names of wall painting competition winners will be finalized for prize distribution
on 4th of June and prizes to the winners will be distributed by the Chief Guest on 5th of
June 2017 in the function organized on World Environment Day by Jammu Municipal
Corporation at JDA park opposite RBI Bank, Trikuta nagar, Jammu.
Besides this, JMC also conducted a Swacch Jammu Public opinion poll within the
JMC limits and the wards selected through the opinion poll will be considered as 1st, 2nd
and 3rd and prizes will also be distributed amongst the winners by the Chief Guest in the
same function.
Main motive of Jammu Municipal Corporation for celebration of World
Environment Day to give a massive thrust to making the issue of source segregation into
a mass movement by active participation of general public.

Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrates World Environment Day today on
5th of June, 2017 at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu where a number of awareness programmes
were organized focusing on the issues of environment with lot of creative activities and
enthusiasm to bring positive changes in the environment.
Hon’ble Deputy CM, Dr. Nirmal Singh flagged off the rally on World
Environment Day from Mini Market, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu which ended up at JDA park
Trikuta Nagar. Rally was also accompanied by Hon’ble Speaker Sh. Kavinder Gupta,
Member Legislative Assembly Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Commissioner, JMC Mr. M.Raju
(IAS), VC JDA, Sh. Rajesh Shavan (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), JMC Sh. R.S Jamwal
(KAS), senior officers of JMC and members of various social Organizations, NGO’s like
Sulabh International, Market Associations, Senior Citizens and people from different
walks of life.
On this occasion plantation of saplings at JDA park, Trikuta Nagar Jammu
was done by the dignitaries to aware and spread a message to plant more and more trees
to save our environment. Thereafter Swachhta and source segregation oath was taken by
the Dy. CM, other dignitaries, Officers and general pubic. During the oath all the
participants pledge to start segregating waste at source and to be committed to devote
atleast two hours a week and aware atleast 100 people to make them a part of this
Campaign to keep our surroundings Clean and Green.
Prizes were also distributed amongst the winners of wall painting competition
at the function which was organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation. 1st, 2nd and 3rd
prizes including Mementoes, appreciation certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 5000/-, Rs.
3000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively were also distributed to the winners of wall painting
competition. 1st prize was given to Mr. Aman Kanathia of G.G.M Science College, 2nd prize
to Mr. Shubham Bali and Ms. Samanpreet Kour of SPMR College of Commerce and 3rd
prize to Mr. Mohinder Kumar of G.G.M Science College.

Under Swachh Jammu Public opinion poll 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were also

distributed to winners of Swachh Jammu Public opinion poll. 1st prize was given to Sh.
Bansi Lal, Sanitary supervisor, JMC and its team of W.No. 30, 2nd prize to Sh. Majid,
Sanitary supervisor and its team of W.No. 60 and 3rd prize to Sh. Vijay Kumar, Sanitary
supervisor and its team of W.No. 14.
A Nukkad Natak was also presented by Newsline under the banner of Swachh
Bharat Mission. A significant message was delivered through this Natak by the Newsline
artists over the World Environment Day. They stressed upon to save our environment by
focusing on Swachhta, to action against Wild life crime and replanting of forests.
During the address to participants, Speaker, Sh. Kavinder Gupta appreciated
the role of JMC for taking steps towards making Jammu City clean and green and also
lauded the role of general public for adopting positive measures towards Swachhta
Abhiyan.
Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh in his address appealed to the general
public that there is a need to do something effective in order to reduce the rate of climate
change. He impressed upon to save and utilize many natural resources for better life of
our future generations. Dy. Chief Minister also stressed upon to adopt three techniques
like reduce, reuse and recycle for effective measures in lessening the impact of our bad
activities over natural ecosystem. These steps will help us in solving environmental
issues in near future. While taking oath Dy. CM also stressed upon to adhere to oath
practically, mindsets to be changed, award to those who work with zeal and dedication
and punish those who are on part of laxity in their work, judious use of electricity. He
also appreciated the role of JMC, Social Organizations, Market Associations, Civil
Societies, NGO’s, Sulabh International, students from various schools and colleges,
Nukkad Natak team for their awareness message regarding environment.

supervisor and its team of W.No. 14.
A Nukkad Natak was also presented by Newsline under the banner of Swachh
Bharat Mission. A significant message was delivered through this Natak by the Newsline
artists over the World Environment Day. They stressed upon to save our environment by
focusing on Swachhta, to action against Wild life crime and replanting of forests.
During the address to participants, Speaker, Sh. Kavinder Gupta appreciated
the role of JMC for taking steps towards making Jammu City clean and green and also
lauded the role of general public for adopting positive measures towards Swachhta
Abhiyan.
Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh in his address appealed to the general
public that there is a need to do something effective in order to reduce the rate of climate
change. He impressed upon to save and utilize many natural resources for better life of
our future generations. Dy. Chief Minister also stressed upon to adopt three techniques
like reduce, reuse and recycle for effective measures in lessening the impact of our bad
activities over natural ecosystem. These steps will help us in solving environmental
issues in near future. While taking oath Dy. CM also stressed upon to adhere to oath
practically, mindsets to be changed, award to those who work with zeal and dedication
and punish those who are on part of laxity in their work, judious use of electricity. He
also appreciated the role of JMC, Social Organizations, Market Associations, Civil
Societies, NGO’s, Sulabh International, students from various schools and colleges,
Nukkad Natak team for their awareness message regarding environment.

Commissioner, JMC issues directions to make Jammu City Dark Free Zones.
To make the Jammu City Dark Free Zones, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal
Corporation, Mr. M.Raju (IAS) accompanied by Joint Commissioner (Works) and
Engineers and field staff of Electric Wing of JMC took stock of different areas where JMC
has installed street lights in various wards & main roads in the vicinity of High Court,
Janipur, Roop Nagar, Bantalab Road, B.C. Road, University Road, Railway Road, Bye
Pass Road, Channi Himmat & adjoining areas during night hours.
He issued on spot directions to the concerned Officers to make all the street lights
functional and undertake repair wherever required. He added that it is the aim of the
JMC to make Jammu fully illuminated and free from dark zones. The process of
installation of new street lights in uncovered areas/dark zones like Sainik Colony, Hazuri
Bagh, Talab Tillo, Channi Rama, Bantalab, Keran, Barnai, Muthi , Subash nagar is also
in progress.

keep liaison with Power Development Department so that power connections could be

construction for commercial purpose against the residential approved building plan in
violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one. The sealing
operation has been conducted with the help of Police Force from District Police Lines,
Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain from making
encroachments and unauthorized constructions / Conversion in violation of land use
otherwise strict action as admissible under rule leading to demolition / sealing will be
taken.
