GENERAL NOTES 1. IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE EXACT LOCATION, DEPTH AND CHARACTER OF ALL UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY RESPECTIVE UTILITY OWNERS AS LISTED BELOW AND FIELD VERIFY LOCATIONS AND ELEVATIONS OF UTILITIES ATLEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY HIS OPERATIONS.

- IN ADDITION, PRIOR TO STARTING WORK, CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY LOCAL PUBLIC SERVICE AGENCIES INCLUDING SHERIFF AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
2. EXISTING UTILITIES AS SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE LOCATIONS AND WERE BASED ON RECORD DRAWINGS AND HAVE NOT BEEN FIELD VERIFIED. THEEXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN AND LISTED ABOVE SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS BEING ALL INCLUSIVE OF UTILITIES IN THE AREA. ANY INTERRUPTIONOF SERVICE SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH THE OWNER OF THE UTILITY.
3. ALL PROPOSED PIPING SHALL BE INSTALLED VIA HAND DIGGING. HAND DIGGING WILL ENSURE CONFLICTS WITH EXISTING UTILITIES ARE AVOIDED.
4. ALL UNDERGROUND CHEMICAL FEED PIPING TO BE 2 1/2" AND ENCASED IN 6" PIPING. ALL PIPING TO BE SCH 80 PVC COLOR CODE YELLOW WITHBLACK DIRECTION OF FLOW ARROW.
5. ALL PIPE AND FITTINGS SHALL BE PRESSURE TESTED PER AWWA AND COLLIER COUNTY STANDARDS.
6. ALL PIPING SHALL HAVE 18-INCHES MINIMUM COVER UNLESS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PROPER GRADEELEVATIONS AND ALIGNMENTS.
7. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE RE-SODDED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
8. FITTINGS MAY BE USED FOR PIPE ALIGNMENT CHANGES RATHER THAN DEFLECTING JOINTS AT THE CONTRACTOR'S OPTION AND WITH NO EXTRACOMPENSATION. NO ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION WILL BE MADE FOR JOINT RESTRAINTS.
9. IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT UTILITY POLES REQUIRE HOLDING OR RELOCATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL EXPENSESASSOCIATED WITH THEIR HOLDING AND/OR RELOCATION AND SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE UTILITY OWNER.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT PLACE ANY FILL MATERIALS WITHIN A WETTED DITCH OR WETLAND AREA WHEN WORKING ADJACENT TO EITHER TYPEOF AREA.
11.DEWATERING MAY BE REQUIRED IN SOME AREAS TO ACHIEVE THE NECESSARY EXCAVATION AND SUBSEQUENT CONSTRUCTION, BACKFILLING ANDCOMPACTING. DEWATERING WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE PUMP STATION BID ITEM. NO EXTRA COMPENSATION FOR DEWATERING WILL BE ALLOWED.CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ANY NECESSARY DEWATERING PERMIT(S). ALL DEWATERING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITHDIVISION 31 OF THE SPECIFICATIONS. WETLAND AREAS SHALL NOT RECEIVE ANY REMOVED WATER.
12.PRIOR TO BID PREPARATION, THE CONTRACTOR MUST BECOME FAMILIARIZED WITH THE OVERALL SITE CONDITION AND PERFORM ADDITIONALINVESTIGATIONS AS DETERMINED NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND THE LIMIT AND DEPTH OF ROCK AND EXPECTED ORGANIC SILT PEAT AREAS,ADEQUACY OF EXISTING MATERIALS AS FILL, DEWATERING REQUIREMENTS, CLEAN FILL REQUIRED FROM OFFSITE, AND MATERIALS TO BE DISPOSEDOF OFFSITE ALL OF WHICH WILL AFFECT HIS PRICING. ANY DELAY, INCONVENIENCE OR EXPENSE CAUSED TO THE CONTRACTOR DUE TO INADEQUATEINVESTIGATION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS SHALL BE INCIDENTAL TO THE CONTRACT AND NO EXTRA COMPENSATION WILL BE ALLOWED. THEMATERIALS ANTICIPATED TO BE ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION MAY REQUIRE DRYING PRIOR TO USE AS BACKFILL AND THE CONTRACTORMAY HAVE TO BRING IN MATERIALS AT NO EXTRA COST FROM OFFSITE TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPACTION AND PROPER FILL.
13. CHAPTER 553-851 OF THE FLORIDA STATUTES REQUIRES THAT AN EXCAVATOR NOTIFY ALL GAS UTILITIES A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) WORKING DAYSPRIOR TO EXCAVATING.
14. ALL BURIED PIPES SHALL HAVE PROPER IDENTIFICATION DETECTOR TAPE INSTALLED AT TWO DEPTHS: DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE PIPE, AND 12 INCHESBELOW FINISHED GRADE, OVER THE CENTERLINE OF THE PIPE. IN ADDITION, CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL ELECTRONIC LOCATION DISCS ABOVE THEPIPE AT ALL JUNCTIONS, CHANGES IN DIRECTION AND EVERY 500 FEET ALONG THE LAYING LENGTH OF PIPE.
15. CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY RESTORE CONSTRUCTION AREAS TO THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION, INCLUDING DRIVEWAYS, ROADWAYS, ASPHALTBIKE PATHS, SWALES, ETC. CONSTRUCTION RESTORATION WILL BE CLOSELY MONITORED AND WILL BE PERFORMED AS CONSTRUCTION PROCEEDS,NOT AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE PROJECT. CONSTRUCTION WILL BE NO MORE THAN 2 DAYS AHEAD OF RESTORATION AT ANY TIME. ANY SPECIALPROVISION OR CONSIDERATION NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE TOTAL BID PRICE.
16. ALL PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS SHALL BE PERFORMED PER COLLIER COUNTY STANDARDS, WHICH ARE AVAILABLE ON THE COUNTY'S WEBSITE:WWW.COLLIERGOV.NET
17. THE CONTRACTOR, AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE, SHALL IMMEDIATELY REPAIR ALL DAMAGES TO COUNTY'S MAINS AND FACILITIES. IF THE REPAIRIS NOT MADE IN A TIMELY MANNER, AS DETERMINED BY COUNTY, COUNTY MAY PERFORM REQUIRED REPAIRS AND CLEANUP. THE CONTRACTOR WILLBE CHARGED FOR ALL EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE REPAIR.
18. ALL NEW VALVES BEING INSTALLED SHALL REMAIN CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION. KEEP VALVES ON ALL WET TAPS CLOSED UNTIL CLEARED BYFDEP. DO NOT CONNECT ANY PROPOSED WATER MAIN TO ANY EXISTING WATER MAIN UNLESS CLEARED BY FDEP AND THE COUNTY.
19. ALL WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS SHALL BE FLUSHED CLEAN OF ALL DELETERIOUS MATERIAL PRIOR TO ANY TESTING. FULL DIAMETER FLUSHING ISREQUIRED . ALL POTABLE WATER MAINS EITHER INSTALLED OR DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE DISINFECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITHAWWA C-651-92 (SUBSECTION 4.8 AND SECTION 9) AND RULE 62-555.345, F.A.C. SUCH WATER MAINS SHALL THEN BE BACTERIOLOGICAL TESTED INACCORDANCE WITH STATE AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE COUNTY MUST BE PRESENT DURING THE TAKING OF ALLWATER SAMPLES.
20.ALL EXISTING POTABLE WATER MAINS SHALL REMAIN OPERATIONAL AND SHALL NOT BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE DURING CONSTRUCTION WITHOUTAPPROVAL FROM COUNTY. ANY APPROVED REMOVAL FROM SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED 4 HOURS.
21.ALL MATERIALS, COATINGS AND CHEMICALS THAT CONTACT RAW WATER AND/OR DRINKING WATER SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH ANSI/NSFSTANDARD 61.
22.LOCATIONS AND ELEVATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES EXPOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE ACCURATELY RECORDED ON THE CONSTRUCTIONDRAWINGS. THE OWNER SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF ANY CONFLICTS WITH PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION.
23.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL LOCATE PROPOSED TIE IN LOCATIONS TO VERIFY ACTUAL LOCATION, SIZE, ELEVATION AND MATERIAL PRIOR TO ORDERINGNEW MATERIAL. WHERE A CONNECTION IS MADE IN THE FIELD TO AN EXISTING PIPE, THE CONTRACTOR WILL EXCAVATE THE AREA TO VERIFY THETYPE OF PIPE AND PIPE SIZE, AND OBTAIN THE OWNER'S APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSED METHOD OF CONNECTION; PRIOR TO ORDERING ANDINSTALLING MATERIALS.
24.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL MEASURES NECESSARY TO CONTROL TURBIDITY INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE INSTALLATION OFTURBIDITY BARRIERS AT ALL LOCATIONS WHERE THE POSSIBILITY OF INFERRING SUSPENDED SOLIDS INTO THE RECEIVING WATER BODY, EXISTS DUETO THE PROPOSED WORK. TURBIDITY BARRIERS MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL LOCATIONS UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETED AND DISTURBED SOILAREAS ARE STABILIZED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING THE BARRIERS. AT NO TIME SHALL THERE BE ANY OFF-SITEDISCHARGE WHICH VIOLATES THE WATER QUALITY STANDARDS IN CHAPTERS 62-302 AND 62-4, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE.
25.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN NORMAL TRANSPORT VEHICLE ACCESS TO WTP FACILITIES AT ALL TIMES.
26.IN THE EVENT THAT THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM IS CONTAMINATED (I.E. WATER DOES NOT MEET FEDERAL AND STATE REQUIREMENTS) DUE TO THECONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE OWNER, OR THE STATE AND LOCALREGULATORY AGENCY FOR CORRECTING ANY SUCH CONTAMINATION PROBLEM INCLUDING DISINFECTION, TESTING AND OTHER CORRECTIVE ACTION.
27.ALL MATERIALS THAT COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE WATER BEING TREATED OR THE FINISHED WATER SHALL BE ON EITHER THE EPA OR NSF LISTSOF PRODUCTS APPROVED FOR USE IN CONTACT WITH POTABLE WATER.
28.PIPE SHALL BE MADE OF POLYVINYL CHLORIDE, SCHEDULE 80 PIPE, CONFORMING TO ASTM D1785. CHEMICAL FEED LINES SHALL HAVE SOLVENTWELDED JOINTS.
29.FITTINGS FOR SCHEDULE 80 PIPE 4 INCHES AND SMALLER IN DIAMETER SHALL BE SOCKET TYPE, SOLVENT WELDED IN CONFORMANCE WITH ASTM D2467. LIQUID CHLORINE FEED LINES SHALL HAVE SOLVENT WELDED FITTINGS. PVC SOLVENT CEMENT SHALL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH ASTM D 2564
30.BALL VALVES SHALL BE MANUFACTURED OF GRADE 1, TYPE I, PVC WITH TEFLON SEATS. SEALS SHALL BE EPDM. VALVE SHALL BE PROVIDED WITHDOUBLE UNIONS AND BALL BLOCKING FEATURE.
