How many of you have not had any
contact with ”The Climate School”

How many of you were here 2 weeks ago?
How many of you were at my

TO BE ORNOT TO BE
THAT IS THE QUESTION !
AND:
IT´S NOW OR NEVER!!!
Media and politicians do not give it high priority
We are denying reality in many different ways:
Many of us are very good at it!
People who totally deny man-made climate change
still exist
- but their numbers are decreasing rapidly
3 types of denial:INTELLECTUALYou reject that climate change is happening and that it´s man-madeEMOTIONALYou accept climate change being real and man-made, but the acceptance stays in your head. It doesn´t affect you emotionally, does not fill your body, does not reach your stomach and your heart. POLITICAL You recognize climate change, you are strongly affected emotionally by it, but that does not lead you to become politically active.
Have you heard about
Bill McKibben
?
Bill McKibben is the founder of http://350.org
- A global movement to solve the Climate Crisis -

Holistic solutions are available – here is one of them!
It is not too lateBut it´s urgent:
PLAN B
”Saving Civilization is Not a Spectator Sport” Lester R. Brown.
The Politicians need help from us, the people:
“Politicians discussing global warming” —Sculpture by Spanish street artist Isaac Cordal.
What would be an efficient wake-up call for the climate?
And when will it be too late?
We need a mobilization a la World War II:
Franklin D. Roosevelt
”Let no man say it can´t be done!” - F.D.R.-
”If the could do it then, so can we” - H.J.R.-

Welcome to: ”The Climate Cinema”
This we know now:Business as usual leads to disasterPopulation growth cannot go onConsumption growth cannot go onWe must change from a growth – based philosophy to a philosophy based ”enoughness” and nature´s limited ressources. It can be called ”ecological economy” or ”circular economy”

Different future Scenarios
Do we succeed in staying below 2 degrees celcius temperature rise? What if we do not succeed in that?A Post Carbon Society – what will it look like?Best adaptation strategies: The transition movement?
Different future Scenarios
Future energy supply? How much will we be able to reduce our energy demand? Will we have enough sun and wind energy?Wil we be able to build enough solar energy plants, wind mills and other other forms of renewable sites to cover the ever growing demand? And how about storage and transportation of energyWill we need nuclear energy – temporarily or permanently?

Which role can Alanya HEP University have in this?
Becoming the first University in Turkey with a ”Faculty of Sustainable Future”?Integrating a combination of:
Local managementBuilding sustainable architectureIncluding Climate Change in its way of thinking
The Climate School could be an integral part of this – educating teachers from other faculties about the facts of Climate ChangeBasis for a general awarenessraising process in Turkey about this
To all students in The Climate School:
