From the Director...What a treat this year’s Chilton Leadership Class has been! Words to
describe them are energetic, anxious to learn, diverse (see lsit of participants on pg 7) and certainly inquisitive. Gay West and I,
along with the previous graduates who developed the plans for this class, have enjoyed working with this group as they
explorered ways to step up to the next level of leadership in our community. The 2013 class now knows that the greatest benefit of this
venture is the lasting relationship developed with each of thier classmates.
At the May 7th Chamber Luncheon the Chilton Leadership Class of 2013 will graduate with honors. Come join us as we celebrate tehir
accomplishments.

HEARD IN AND ABOUT THE U.S. CHAMBER...
“It is the private sector that drives economic growth and jobs, and it is the government’s responsibility to work on a bipartisan basis to pass policies that will unleash the private sector and help put Americans
back to work..”
__ U.S. Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue, quoted in the Financial Times, November 7, 2012
“Education systems must begin to truly organize their work around consumers, business, students,
and communities rather than around the interest of the education systems themselves.”
__Margaret Spellings,President of the Chamber’s U.S. Forum for Policy
Innovation, in an op-ed published in The Phoenix Business Journal, December 7, 2012
IF WE DON’T KNOW IT WE CAN’T SHOW IT
Paul “BEAR” Bryant, the legendary football coach at the University of Alabama, said there are five things that winning
team members need to know:
1. Tell me what you expect from me2. Give me an opportunity to perform3. Let me know how I’m getting along4. Give me guidance where I need it
5. Reward me according to my contribution
