IN THE VINEYARD
In our vineyards, we cultivate every block according to its specific elevation,
soil, slope, aspect, and microclimate to make sure the fruit develops the
purest expression of its origin. Our estate vineyards are 100% hand harvested
at peak ripeness.
Our philosophy of environmental responsibility and sustainable stewardship
not only protects the land for generations to come, but also results in
superior wines. Five of our seven Cabernet Estate vineyards have been
certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). We
are committed to maintaining organic integrity and to ecological production
that includes conserving soil, reducing pollution, and promoting a healthy
ecosystem at every stage of farming and winemaking.
WINEMAKING PRACTICES
After careful hand-harvest, grapes are sorted at the winery with a cutting-
edge digital optical sorting machine that uses lasers and sensors to allow
only the finest fruit to reach our fermentation tanks. The gentle, precision
winemaking methods of Director of Winemaking Steve Leveque and his
team—optical sorting, cold soaking, 100% gravity-flow winemaking, and

MAKING WINES AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL
starts with doing everything right in the
vineyard—both technically and intuitively.
Don Munk and I work in concert to ensure
our vineyards are in a place of perfect
balance throughout every step of the
growing season. Farming vine by vine,
organically and responsively, we are
rewarded with fruit that achieves perfect
ripeness and a complex, balanced, and
singular site expression.
In the winery, we intervene as little as possible and allow the fruit to
transform itself, through its native yeasts, into the wine it is destined
to become. Our many state-of-the-art tools ensure total precision—
from our cutting-edge optical sorter to our micro-calibrated heating
and cooling systems. We let the wine take the lead, making scientific
and artistic decisions along the way to coax out the purest, richest
articulation of the fruit.
As a winemaker and as a native of this valley, I feel incredibly blessed
to work with these amazing vineyards, craft wines in the most
innovative facilities around, and work among the talented, passionate
people of HALL Wines. With all these wonderful assets, we are able
to accomplish wines that are both approachable now and capable of
cellaring for decades—rich, eloquent, and vineyard-driven.

HALL Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the backbone of our collection, is a wine of classic Napa Valley expression. We select fruit from as many as 13 of Napa Valley’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon appellations, from rugged mountainsides and gentle foothills to the lush valley floor and alluvial benchlands on either side of the Napa River. By blending these lots, we create a rich panorama on the palate—a landscape of complexity and character that beautifully reflects the unforgettable terroir of this world-class region.
Dark garnet in color, the HALL Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon displays concentrated aromas of pure dark fruit with a light floral lift. The palate is bright and dense, with plenty of structured tannins buttressed by French oak. The result is a well-integrated, nuanced, and complex wine.

HALL NAPA VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC
HALL NAPA VALLEY MERLOT
With our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, our goal is to capture the fresh, vibrant, delicate qualities of the variety—its grapefruit and white floral characters. The grapes come from a mélange of cool climate vineyards in the valley, where we focus on reducing yields and manicuring the canopy for just the right sun exposure. This wine really is built in the vineyard. We ferment in stainless steel to deliver complex, mouthwatering crispness.
Merlot tends to ripen early, so for our Napa Valley Merlot we look to cooler vineyard sites where grapes develop vibrant, nuanced character. The wine has deep garnet color with intriguing dark red and black fruit expression. Merlot from Hardester Ranch, with its gravelly hillside topography, contributes weight, concentration, and notes of rich chocolate. Supple tannins on the palate support the flavors and deliver a silky mouthfeel. Enjoy now and over the next five years.

ARTISAN COLLECTION
A pioneering winemaker from the 1800s. A small plane’s emergency landing on the outskirts of
Darwin, Australia. A child’s unforgettable Father’s Day artwork. These are some of the stories behind the HALL Artisan Collection. The consistent personalities of these unique wines are inspired by our history and by the friends and family of our founders and team.
We source the Artisan Collection from vineyards throughout Napa Valley and, in some cases, Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. This gives us a wide range of exceptional vineyards to choose from as we determine the best fruit for the wine’s personality each year. We also experiment with blending varietals, highlighting different combinations according to the distinctive attributes of any given vintage.

HALL COEURCABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL ELLIE’S CABERNET SAUVIGNON
This wine is named for Craig Hall’s mother, Eleanor “Ellie” Hall, who was an artist and teacher. She inspired Craig’s love of art, and one of her original artworks graces the wine’s label. Crafting this blend is an exercise in balance. We look to mountain vineyard sources for soft, elegant tannins and fresh, appealing herbal characters. The wine opens with aromas of dark fruit, licorice, and savory crushed sage that carry over onto a vibrant, dense palate. A percentage of Merlot contributes a silky mouthfeel. Enjoy now and over the next decade.
The HALL St. Helena property, formerly the Napa Valley Cooperative Winery, was established as one of Napa’s pioneering winemaking locations in
1885. Between 1933 and 1960, the cooperative served as the largest winery in the valley
and produced as much as 40% of Napa Valley’s wine. It was the heart—or ‘Coeur’ (translated in French)—of the foundation of Napa winemaking.
Our “Coeur” Cabernet Sauvignon was inspired by the artisanal skills of the winegrowers and winemakers of the mid-1900s who helped elevate this now world-famous region. This blend is a celebration of our St. Helena vineyard sources, where gravelly, low vigor soils and the cooling influence of Pacific breezes develop grapes that produce a lush, dense, aromatic wine. Aromas and flavors of dark briar fruit, blackberry, cassis, and cola are true to the characteristic profile of this region’s wines. The palate has an opulent, harmonious balance of fruit, oak, and tannin that carries through the long finish.

HALL JACK’S MASTERPIECECABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL EIGHTEEN SEVENTY-THREE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
In 1873, Captain William Peterson established his pioneering winery on our St. Helena property. Throughout the 1930’s and 40’s, the site grew to become the most important winery in Napa Valley, producing nearly 40% of any given vintage. The fruit for our “Eighteen Seventy-Three” comes from the rugged slopes of the Vaca mountain range that form the eastern flank of Napa Valley. These west-facing vineyards receive less rainfall and full afternoon sun. The wines have intensity, brightness and a certain energy and edge. We enjoy blending the power and individuality of these vineyards as a commemoration of the trailblazing spirit of Napa’s first vintners.
HALL “Eighteen Seventy-Three” is a bold blend, with pure, concentrated aromas and flavors of ripe dark fruit, cassis, and earth, with notes of vanilla from oak aging. The palate is robust, layered with sturdy tannins that frame the fruit character. A thread of minerality weaves through the silky finish. This wine’s structured tannins will evolve beautifully over the next decade.
Each year, former winemaker and current president of HALL Wines, Mike Reynolds, returns to his first love and blends a signature Cabernet Sauvignon known as “Jack’s Masterpiece.” The wine is named for Mike’s son, who created the
label artwork as a Father’s Day gift when he was 18-months old.
We build “Jack’s Masterpiece” from select vineyards in Napa Valley, including mountain vineyards that provide incredible backbone and density. The wine has ripe black fruit characters on the nose, with toasty oak nuances from barrel aging. The palate is dark and brooding with lush black fruit and spice. Dense, chewy, fully-integrated tannins deliver a long and fruity finish.

HALL CRAIG’S CUVEERED WINE
HALL DARWIN SYRAH
“Craig’s Cuvee” was conceived by Craig Hall as an unconventional, appealing red blend to enjoy every day with family and friends. This wine is made in limited quantities and allows us to experiment with blending wine
varieties and vineyard sources, playing up the most unique and captivating qualities of every vintage.
“Craig’s Cuvee” Red Wine has dark berry notes, with hints of earth and tar. A bright, vibrant palate makes it perfect for pairing with hearty fare.
We named this Syrah-based wine for the town of Darwin, Australia, where Kathryn and Craig’s small plane once required an emergency landing. When they were safely on the ground, the Halls toasted their well-being with an Aussie Shiraz/Cabernet blend and pledged to create a similar wine in the Napa Valley to commemorate the occasion.
For HALL “Darwin,” we look to cool-climate Syrah vineyards where the variety enjoys longer hangtimes on the vine, softening tannins and developing earthy characters and spice complexity. This is a dark, muscular, earthy wine with savory aromas of licorice and smoked meats. The palate confirms a big, meaty character, concentrated with a rustic, mineral finish.

session, we look forward
to Craig’s Cuvee. It’s our
chance to build something
light-hearted and whimsical,
yet compelling.” –Steve Leveque Director of Winemaking

HALL T BAR T RANCHCABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL T BAR T RANCHSAUVIGNON BLANC
This remarkable Sauvignon Blanc is crafted as a pure, honest expression of its vineyard. Our “T Bar T Ranch” stretches across the steep and rugged eastern ridgeline of Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. The property is an ideal site for farming both Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, as the rough, elevated terrain develops intense, complex fruit.
Bright pale straw in color, our “T Bar T Ranch” reveals bright tropical fruit aromas with floral notes and hints of honeycomb that linger over an intriguing finish. The wine is fermented in a combination of new French oak and neutral oak barrels, to develop depth and complexity, and stainless steel to retain freshness. We craft this wine without fining, filtration, or malolactic fermentation to maintain its intrinsic energy and purity.
Our “T Bar T Ranch” stretches across the steep and rugged eastern ridgeline of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County.Alexander Valley is the most sought-after of all Sonoma County appellations for Cabernet
Sauvignon. Grapevines here develop smaller clusters of smaller berries,
resulting in highly concentrated varietal character.
Our “T Bar T Ranch” Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet color and aromas of dark cassis preserves, sweet tobacco, caramel, and toast. The tannins stand up on the palate and support the ripe, dark fruit. This is a lean, elegant wine—characteristic of Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy over the next decade.

APPELLATION WINES
The HALL Appellation Wines celebrate the diversity of Napa Valley with selections that come from
several of its distinct, world-class growing regions: Saint Helena, Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain, Diamond Mountain District, Mount Veeder and Rutherford. Each of these regions is defined by its unique growing conditions—from the glass-chipped soils of Mount Veeder to the warm valley floor of Saint Helena. It’s this combination of conditions—soil types, micro-climates, terrain—that enable each of these
regions to develop specific characters in wine grapes, personality profiles that could come from no other place on earth.
Wines from our Appellation collection come from our estate and partner vineyards throughout these sought-after growing regions. From the renowned Sacrashe Vineyard in Rutherford to the Bergfeld Estate in Saint Helena, we believe each vineyard site behind these wines exemplifies the finest qualities the appellation has to offer.

HALL STAGS LEAP DISTRICTCABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL BERGFLED CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Our Bergfeld Vineyard in Saint Helena is one of the oldest in Napa Valley, first planted to vine in 1859 by William Peterson, a New England sea captain and winemaking pioneer. We cultivate this vineyard by hand, down to each and every vine. It sits on rocky, ancient riverbed soils with exceptional drainage; this reduces vine vigor and results in small, highly concentrated grapes. Cool, valley-floor nights maintain the grapes’ natural acidity, while warm, sunny days develop ripe, opulent fruit character and firm tannins.
This is a powerful wine, with deep plum color, juicy blackfruit aromas and flavors, hints of toasty oak and black pepper from aging in French oak barrels, and balanced acidity. Structured tannins provide a robust mouth-feel and support the fruit over a lengthy finish. This wine will drink well over the next 20 years.
The Stags Leap District is a unique appellation in Napa Valley. Its boundaries are formed by the Stags Leap palisades to the east, rolling hills and the Napa River to the west; the Yountville Cross Road to the north, and flatlands to the south. We
source this wine from two vineyard partners in this appellation, an enclave east of the trail that
heats up dramatically during the day, then cools down just as dramatically at night from the marine influence of San Pablo Bay. This gives us fully ripened grapes with pitch-perfect acidity.
Our “Stags Leap District” Cabernet Sauvignon is rich violet-red in color, with an exuberant nose of red fruit and Bing cherry with floral notes. The palate exhibits bright red berry flavors with a vibrant core of dense tannins. The finish is floral, elegant, and mouthwatering. The wine will evolve well over the next 20 years.2013 – 94+ Pts.

HALL DIAMOND MOUNTAIN DISTRICTCABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL HOWELL MOUNTAIN CABERNET SAUVIGNON
The lowest point of the Howell Mountain appellation, in the northeastern corner of Napa Valley, has an elevation of 1400 feet, well above the fog line. This creates a natural inversion layer that drenches the vines in sunlight from daybreak to sunset. Cooler spring temperatures mean the growing season starts earlier than on the valley floor, while warm summer nights develop dense, opulent fruit. The rocky, volcanic soils provide excellent drainage, stressing vines and leading to the low vigor that gives us small clusters of dark, intense berries.
Our “Howell Mountain” Cabernet Sauvignon has dense garnet color and vivid red and black fruit laced with floral hints. Lush, mouth-coating tannins add complexity and support the concentrated fruit over a lengthy finish. Enjoy over the next 15 years.
Nestled in the northwestern hillsides of Napa Valley, the Diamond Mountain District is sparsely planted, with fewer than 550 acres under vine. This warm hillside appellation is perfect for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon. With porous, nutrient-poor, volcanic
soils, the fruit produces wines with distinctively earthy, chocolate-laced character, wrapped
around rich, opulent tannins. The appellation takes its name from the bits of glass in the soil left over from ancient volcanic activity.
Opaque violet-red in color, our “Diamond Mountain District” Cabernet Sauvignon has earth-driven aromas of cocoa powder, roasted sage, and spice that carry over onto a dense, rich, mouth-coating palate. The wine finishes long with well-integrated oak. Enjoy over the next 15 years.

HALL EXZELLENZCABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL MOUNT VEEDER CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Our “Mount Veeder” Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the cooler reaches of this appellation, closer to Carneros. Mountainside vineyards here have exceptionally diverse soils that include sedimentary soils from the geologic rise of ancient sea beds, volcanic material, and old-forest coniferous material. Vines experience naturally reduced vigor and produce smaller berries of significant concentration.
There is something exotic to the character of this wine—a consistent quality year after year with big, dark fruit and distinctive energy. On the nose, deep blue and black fruit characters are accented with hints of earth and cocoa. A highly dense, well-structured palate supports the powerful fruit. Enjoy over the next 20 years.
“Exzellenz” is the Austrian title for “Ambassador.” The name of this exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced exclusively from our Sacrashe estate in Rutherford, honors founder Kathryn Walt Hall’s service as U.S. Ambassador to Austria. Fittingly, this
wine comes from a barrel selection that represents the unique qualities of this vineyard, a site high
atop the eastern ridge of the Vaca mountain range. The vineyard’s nutrient-poor volcanic tuff soils and gentle slopes create beneficial stress, so that vines here produce small berries of extraordinary concentration.
HALL “Exzellenz” has deep ruby-purple color and vivid dark fruit aromas that carry over onto a densely structured palate. This is a bold, serious wine. Enjoy now and for the next 15 years.

HALL RAININ VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON
HALL THE BISHOP CABERNET SAUVIGNON
This wine takes its name from HALL Winemaker Steve Leveque—“Leveque” means “The Bishop” in French. “The Bishop” represents the 12 very best barrels of our entire vintage each year. It is a blended wine, therfore every year its components—the vineyard sourcing, the appellation—will change. Some things, however, are a sure bet. “The Bishop” will be built on power and finesse, with aging potential of 10 to 15 years.
Our winegrowing partners Jen and Frances Rainin own a beautiful, intimate estate on Diamond Mountain from which we source high quality Cabernet Sauvignon. In the most exceptional years, we create a vineyard-designate “Rainin Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon in very limited quantities. We select the best barrels from the best block of the vintage.
