Tarmac Tested! With thousands in service all over the world from private aircraft owners to major airlines, Cecomp gauges have a proven reliability record. One of our first customers tested the gauge by throwing it out the cockpit window of a 747. The gauge survived and tested well within specifications.

Increased Tire LifeThe accuracy and readability of Cecomp gauges can extend tire life by up to 5% according to one airline customer. Under or over inflation shorten tire life and affect performance.

Mechanical gauges are typically accurate to only ±2%. A 300 psi gauge may be off by 9 psi and still be within specifications. Mechanical gauge pointer readings are also subject to operator interpretation. Since mechanical gauges have no temperature compensation, accuracy can be worse at temperature extremes.

Many aircraft tire manufacturers recommend a gauge accurate to ±0.25% allow-ing tire pressure to be set to within 2 psi. Cecomp gauges meet this requirement and the digital display allows readings to the exact pressure.

The ruggedness of Cecomp gauges also make them ideal for tire shop initial and re-inflation checks, and the readability make them ideal for leak down tests.

Save on Replacement and Calibration CostsThousands of dollars can be saved by not having to calibrate and replace dam-aged mechanical gauges. Dropping a mechanical gauge will usually knock it out of calibration or damage it enough to require replacement. One airline save thousand of dollars a year by switching to Cecomp gauges. The accuracy of rug-ged Cecomp gauges are not affected by dropping. Calibration intervals can be extended far beyond what is possible with mechanical gauges. Cecomp gauges can also be repaired and refurbished.

Installation and PrecautionsInstall or remove gauge using wrench on hex fitting only. Do not attempt to tighten by turning housing or any other part of the gauge.

Use fittings appropriate for the pressure range of the gauge.

Do not apply vacuum to gauges not designed for vacuum operation.

Due to the hardness of 316 stainless steel, it is recommended that a thread sealant be used to ensure leak-free operation.

NEVER insert objects into the gauge port or blow out with compressed air. Permanent damage not covered by warranty will result to the sensor.

These products do not contain user serviceable parts except for those with replaceable batteries as specified in the instructions. Contact us for repairs, service, or refurbishment.

OperationPress the button on the front of the gauge to activate the display.

The gauge will stay on for a period of time determined by the auto shutoff time. After this time the gauge will automatically shut off to conserve bat-tery life.

Display backlighting can be turned on by pressing and holding the ON but-ton. Holding the ON button to use the backlight does not affect or reset the auto-shutoff timer.

LOBAT will be indicated on the display when battery replacement is required. The battery should be replaced soon after the LOBAT indicator comes on or unreliable readings may result.

The two replaceable AAA batteries that can operate the gauge for approxi-mately 75 hours if the backlighting is used continuously and up to 1000 hours if the backlighting is not used at all.

Battery ReplacementA low battery indication will be shown in the upper left-hand corner of the display when the battery voltage falls sufficiently. The battery should be replaced soon after the indicator comes on or unreliable readings may result.

Use only high quality AAA alkaline or lithium replacement batteries.

Remove the 6 Phillips head screws on the back of the unit.

Carefully remove batteries from the holders by lifting up the positive end of the battery (opposite the spring). Take care not to bend or distort the battery retention springs.

Always replace both batteries at the same time with high quality alkaline or lithium batteries.

Observe the polarity of the batteries when replacing them. The negative (flat) end of each battery should be inserted first, and should face the spring in the battery holder.

Replace the back cover, including the rubber sealing gasket.

CalibrationThe following calibration procedure covers ATP models with top potentiom-eters. Other versions and ranges (absolute reference, vacuum, compound, bipolar) are not covered by these instructions.

Contact Cecomp Customer Service at 800-942-0315 for assistance. Gauges can be returned to factory for certified recalibration, repairs, and refurbish-ment. NIST traceability is available.

All gauges are factory calibrated on NIST traceable calibration equipment. No calibration is required before placing the gauge into service.

Calibration should only be performed by qualified individuals using appropri-ate calibration standards and procedures.

Annual calibration is the minimum recommended, but calibration intervals are to be determined by customer’s quality standards and as-found data.

The calibration equipment should be at least four times more accurate than the gauge being calibrated. The calibration system must be able to generate and measure pressure over the full range of the gauge.

It is good practice to install fresh batteries before calibration.

Allow the gauge to equalize to normal room temperature (about 20 minutes minimum) before calibration.

Remove label on top of gauge to expose opening with calibration potentiom-eters. This label may be reused many times if kept clean.

See rear label of gauge for potentiometer identification and pressure range.

With the pressure port open to the ambient, adjust the Zero control until the gauge reads zero, with the “–” sign occasionally flashing.

Zero calibration should be done before Span calibration.

For span calibration apply full-scale pressure to the pressure port, and adjust the Span control for the correct reading.

Verify pressure indications at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of full scale and repeat calibration as needed to achieve best accuracy over desired operating range.
