Carbon Cycle:Processes Which Transfer Carbon

• Photosynthesis plants converting sunlight, water, and CO2 into energy (glucose).

• Respiration organisms creating energy (ATP) by converting glucose and oxygen.

• Consumption organisms consuming other organisms.• Decomposition organisms decaying after they die.• Combustion burning of fossil fuels.• Weathering rocks break down and release carbon.• Dissolve/Vaporize between ocean and atmosphere.

Nitrogen Cycle:Processes that Transfer Nitrogen

• Denitrification the loss or removal of nitrogen or nitrogen compounds; specifically : reduction of nitrates or nitrites commonly by bacteria (as in soil) that usually results in the escape of nitrogen into the air.

• Nitrogen fixation is a process in which nitrogen (N2) in the atmosphere is converted into ammonia (NH3).

• Fertilizers (contain nitrogen)• Ammonification is the process by which the organically bound nitrogen of microbial, plant, and animal biomass is recycled after their death.

• Decomposition break down of organisms after death.
