Introduction

Canvas provides an integrated and highly precise publishing environment which enables users to manipulate and visualize technical data. The program has the full range of precise vector object illustration tools and advanced raster image editing tools that users need — all in one single, workflow-accelerating application.

Users can import over 100 file formats, from the most common to the most specialized, and export to over 80 formats and presentation media, saving valuable time and effort when creating, enhancing and sharing technical illustrations.


Technical Illustration & Enhancement

Canvas provides a single integrated software environment for technical illustration. With Canvas, users can work with both vector objects and raster images in the same document.

In addition, illustrators have access to a larger range of enhancement tools for any kind of graphic, rather than being limited to certain enhancements on vector objects and others on raster images.

Precise Perimeter-Based Illustration Scaling

• Scale simple or composite vector objects based on area or perimeter values.

• Simply enter a value in the Scale Options dialog box, choose Percentage or Absolute, and click a different origin point if desired.

• Allows for scaling a pen weight.


Workflow Integration

In specialized workflows that require high level format support and sophisticated methods of data acquisition, visualization and analysis, Canvas has the crucial ability to accurately measure, edit, and export digital images that contain up to 32 bits per channel of data.

Specialized imaging instrumentation within the medical, geological, and other related scientific industries often creates image or data files that contain more than 16 bits of data per grayscale channel. Canvas combines its professionally engineered technology core with a number of refined user interface components that address these needs.

Geometric Import & Export

• Import any object’s geometry and Canvas 12 automatically draws the object based on the specified coordinates

• Easily create illustrations and graphics based on precise measurements

• Specify and manipulate both the location and geometric dimensions of rectangles, ovals, lines, polygons, beziers and arcs

• View an object’s geometric properties in a spreadsheet-like grid

• Import and export text file representations of objects



3D View

• 3D object into a Canvas document and visualize, annotate and embellish its many different views without having to redraw the views in two dimensions

• View and enhance the latest AutoCAD®-DXF/DWG 3D object file formats by simply importing a 3D file

• Canvas 12 integrates into AutoCAD 3D workflows



Multi-Save

• Export documents to many formats at once with just one click by using the new Multi-Save command.

• Choose desired export formats, including BMP, CGM, GIF, JPG, PCX, PDF, PNG, TGA, and TIF

• Click “Save” to Multi-save that document; and from there on, Canvas will save to all the formats selected


Publishing, Presenting & Collaborating
