Ballad A ballad is a form
of verse, often a narrative set to music. Ballads were particularly characteristic of British and Irish popular poetry and song in the later medieval period.
Where did the word come from?
The ballad derives its name from medieval French dance songs or "ballares" which is also called the French Ballade.
