Everyone who visits MichaelMorgan’s Hinsdale dental office leaveswith a smile, even if they have to carryit home in their pocket.

Morgan, who has been in practice at7 N. Grant St. for one year, does every-thing he can to make his guests happyand comfortable, and that includessending each of them home with asmile cookie, made specially forMorgan’s practice.

“We look at things differently here,”said Morgan, who brings more than 20years of experience to Smiles byMorgan. After several years of leading alarge Michigan Avenue practice, the LaGrange native decided to bring thingsback home. His new practice is small, and he likes it that way.

“I want to build a relationship witheach person,” Morgan said.

People seeking treatment are regard-ed as guests, not patients. As theyarrive they’re greeted by ConciergeCathy Clark and invited to settle in at awaiting area that looks more like afriend’s living room than a dental office.Because Morgan usually sees just onepatient at a time, the wait is typicallyshort, but Clark is there to make it aspleasant as possible, with warm blan-kets, cozy booties or a cool drink.

“They’re simple little comforts,” saidMorgan, who also has made his home inHinsdale.

A graduate of University of IllinoisSchool of Dentistry, Morgan is happy toperform an exam or fill a cavity, butmuch of his time is spent doing what heloves most — creating beautiful smiles.

“I like the artistic part of dentistry,”he said.

He uses the very latest techniques, including porcelain veneers, implantsand whitening treatments to restoreand repair his clients’ teeth.

“We can give them back the teeththey had when they were 20 years old,”

Morgan said. His job is about more than making

people look good.“They gain self confidence and self

esteem. We see people literally blossom. They feel better about themselves,” headded.

A healthy smile also can mean ahealthier body.

“We don’t want to lose site that over-all health should really be the goal foreach guest,” Morgan said, noting thatpeople with healthy teeth enjoy a lowerrisk of heart disease and diabetes, andhealthier pregnancies.

Morgan said he does all he can tomake the process of getting thathealthy smile as pleasant as having it.During treatment guests can relax witha personal C.D. player, scented candlesor a warm massage pad. Requests forlight sedation are granted, along with acomplimentary ride home.

“We want this to be their best dentalcare experience — ever,” Morgan said.

Long appointments might require abreak for lunch, which Morgan willhave delivered to the guest’s specifica-tions.

After receiving his doctor’s degree in1985, Morgan continued his dental edu-cation with a post-graduate work in aes-thetic dentistry. His studies took him allover the country and to Switzerland, where Morgan said some of the world’smost innovative dental procedures andmaterials are created.

Morgan also has shared his expertiseas an instructor at the Las VegasInstitute for Advanced Dental Studiesand as co-director of the AdvancedPosterior Esthetics Program at thePacific Aesthetics Continuum inCalifornia.

Morgan said his role as evaluator ofnew composite materials for severaldental manufacturers ensures healways has the latest materials.
