Busara Leadership Partners is a boutique strategic advisory and consulting firm that was established in 2009. Busara means “wisdom, prudence and intelligence” in Swahili. We are a new generation of individuals steeped in qualifications, experience and capabilities that are driven by performing, achieving measurable results and making a difference in everything we do. The core staff of Busara Leadership Partners is limited by choice – so that we can focus of quality projects, assignments and delivery rather than pursuing clients to cover overheads and payroll. We work with a ‘close’ network of suitably qualified and experienced resources that meet particular values (motivations), reputation, track record, work ethic and professionalism benchmark that are the best fit for the project at hand. Dudu Msomi is the CEO, founder and Head of Busara Integrated Governance. Dudu Msomi has qualifications in B.A. Hons. (University of Natal, Dbn); Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising and Marketing (AAA School of Advertising); Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance (RAU); Programme for Management Development (GIBS) and a Masters in Business Administration (GIBS). She has read Corporate Law (UJ).

Tumi Mphahlele Tumi Mphahlele is the Head of Busara Strategic Projects, a division of Busara Leadership Partners. Tumi’s strong conceptual skills have made it possible for her to grasp complex business problems within a short space of time. Her analytical and conceptual skills come naturally to her as a science undergraduate which has been shown in a range of academic achievements that she has attained, including “Top Academic Student” at Stellenbosch Business School and Deans Merit List at UCT. This aids her strong ability to make careful and balanced decisions and which she is able to do quickly when required. This ability to practice objectivity, even under intense pressure and to see a macro view of issues has earned her respect. Tumi has worked across a range of industries, including banking, insurance, petrochemicals and resources in roles that include Project Management, Business analysis, Process Redesign, Training and Change Management. Tumi’s experience in these industries includes leading projects in systems development, shared services implementation, customer relationship management, process and new business start-ups. The projects she has managed had varying degrees of emphasis in people, process and technology and this puts her in a position to fully appreciate issues of integration and interdependencies in projects and programmes. Tumi Mphahlele has an MBA from GIBS (University of Pretoria); B.Sc (Chemistry) from University of Cape Town; Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from UNISA; Diploma in Datametrics (Information System major) from UNISA and a Management Development Certificate from the University of Stellenbosch.

Dudu Msomi Dudu Msomi is the founder and CEO of Busara Leadership Partners offering tailor-made and personalised advisory and strategic services to leadership teams and individuals, boards and executives in the private and public sector throughout the continent. Dudu heads up the division, Busara Integrated Governance, which develops leaders to grow investments and their organisations in a sustainable manner by making decisions that ensure positive long-term benefits for the organisation and their communities. Msomi has expertise and experience in strategy formulation and implementation; designing and implementing transformation programmes in companies and industry bodies; marketing; advertising; communications; human resources leadership and corporate governance. Dudu’s experience also spans diverse industries such as retail, advertising, financial services, Information, Communications & Technology consulting and professional, membership services. Msomi also writes for publishing in diverse media and academic journals on leadership, corporate governance, boards and entrepreneurship, is commissioned by companies to write case studies for journals and mass publications on their leaders, company and/or brands and also does public speaking. She holds several board directorships in the Financial Services Board (FSB), the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and BCD Travel. Tembisa Marele
Tembisa Marele is the Head of Busara Public. Tembisa Marele is a Senior Journalist and presenter. She presents Interface on SABC 3. Tembisa Marele has experience in print, radio, and television broadcasting. She has won several media awards, including the MTN rising star award at the Media Woman of the Year Awards in 2005. After leaving university, Marele worked at the local newspapers before pursuing a postgraduate diploma with the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (Nemisa). She then worked as an intern with SAfm before she was offered a permanent position as a production assistant on Tim Modise’s show. From there she became a researcher and before long a presenter on Jozi Live and a gospel music programme. Tembisa Marele has a BA Hons Media Culture and Communication (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) and an MBA from the Milpark Business School.
