LOAN STRUCTURE: TheSBA504programallowsCouncilFinancetostructurealoanpackageconsistingofthreefundingsources.Theborrower’scommerciallendertypicallyprovides50percentofthetotalprojectcost,CouncilFinance’sSBAloanprovidesupto40percentoftheprojectcost,andtheborrowerprovidesaminimum10%equityinjection.Therateissetatthetimetheloanfundsandremainsfixedforthelifeoftheloan.
LOAN QUALIFICATIONS: Abusinessmayqualifytopartici-pateintheSBA504Programifits
tangiblenetworthdoesnotexceed$15millionanditsnetincomeaftertaxesisnotmorethan$5millionfortheprevious2years.Theloanproceedsmustbeusedforfixed-assetfinancingthatincludestheacquisi-tionofland,building,renovation,newconstruction,andlongusefullifeequipment.Theminimumprojectsizeis$125,000,andtheprojectmustcreateorretainonejobforevery$65,000borrowedfromSBA.
