Boreal ForestBy: Sharifa and Zohour
Where is the boreal forest located in the world?
Canada, USA Europe, not
Iceland
Animals and Plants That Live
In the Boreal Forest:
Red Fox:It uses its strong jaws to chew meat from its prey. It also uses speed to catch its prey.
beaverThey have swimming membranes between their toes to swim faster away from their prey.
Bald Eagle This animal stays alive in this forest because they are raptors. They fly through the air and dive down from the air to there target prey.
White pine It’s abilities to live in this biome is that it doesn’t have leaves but it has needles. That matches the habitat because not a lot of trees with leaves can live in snowy places.
White Cedar It survives in this biome because they grow slowly which means they are very old. There is one from 1,1000 to 1,400 years old.
Red pineThey live for 2000 years and they have a thick strong trunk which when 2 grown men hug the tree their hands don’t touch.
Human activities
What do humans do with this
biome?Is it good or bad?
The Ojibwa
These people had a population of 130,000 in America and 60,000 in Canada.
They are hunter gatherers. That means they could affect the animal food chain in a bad or good way.
The good reason is that they might be keeping it balanced.
The bad way is maybe they are hunting to much and destroying the food chain.
The Cree
They cut birch bark trees to make canoes to get around.
That could mean that tree is getting less and less or the food chain is changing if any of the animals or living organisms get energy from it.
It could be good because the tree itself is causing a problem to the food chain.
