Problem
Procedure
• A bond graph was made in CAMPG of the system in the problem.
• While all of the values were constants, the source of effort caused by the unbalanced motor is a function of time– SE = m*e*wf*sin(wf*t)
• A simulink model was also created to compare values
Bond Graph
Procedure
• All of the values were put into Matlab and displayed graphically
Simulink Model
Procedure
• All of the values were built into the model and the scopes display the results as a function of time.
Results
• The amplitude of the fluctuating force by analysis is 5.75 N, while the bond graph model gave about 5.8N.
• The amplitude of the displacement of the motor by analysis is 7.10x10-6m, while the bond graph model gave about the same answer of 7.10x10-6m.
Results
The displacement and Momentum of the mass
Results
Zoomed in to see value
Results
The total Force caused by the system on the foundation
Results
Zoomed in portion of the Force on the foundation
Results
• The amplitude of the fluctuating force by analysis is 5.75 N, while the Simulink model settled down at between 5 and 6 N.
• The amplitude of the displacement of the motor by analysis is 7.10x10-6m, while the Simulink model gave about the same answer of 7.10x10-6m.
Results
Force on Foundation over time
Results
Vertical displacement over time
Conclusion
• The displacement matched up with the calculated value in the example, and the amplitude of the force was almost on for both the CampG and the Simulink models. There was a bit of noise on the force graph for an unknown reason, but it came out very similar. I can see that bond graphs and simulink models can be powerful tools to simulate many situations.
