The origin of the contentIn the Dutch-speaking countries every institute was creating theirown Support-material, all in different data-formats…

Motivation for collaboration
• Same Bb 9.x migration plans• Shared Momentum (Migration Timelines overlap)• Limited Content production capacity• Need of continuous changes in Support materials• Previous experiences show that 80% of the support
materials is exchangeable among NLBbUG members• The awareness that only through collaboration a full set of
support materials can be produced economically
Which led to a common goal…
11/25
Content production collaborationThe result of a few NLBbUG-meetings:- Decision to collaborate in Support-materials production- Named and prioritized set of > 200 Support-items - Basic template for a individual Support-item / Single- The decision was made to use a Google-apps environment- Agreement about production-and review methods / procedures- A production and review-crew (NLBbUG-members) was established- And a production timeline was set
For participants the produced supportcontent is free to use.

Avans Support-singles
NLBbUG Support-singles
What makes it a Jukebox?Input for the Jukebox are the Support-singles
Output are the Avans-converted Support-singles.Presented in our Wordpress-environment
It is a virtual device that contains all Bb Support-materials
It allows you to search and find the a specific Support-item/single
A supportsingle obtains one specific support-item
Updating support-items is simply a matter of replacing one single, without shutting down the jukebox
Custom made support is easily addable by creating and inserting a new single
16/25
What kind of content types does the Jukebox contain?Content types:• Static documents in PDF format, • Illustrated html how-to instructions• Screencasts• External sources• Tutorials• But also organizational information,
like “how to change my password”• and… Polls
Exchangeability and reusability…• The empty Wordpress-based Jukebox-facility (incl. Plugins) is reusable• It’s easy to export the Support-items database to an XML-file;
XML-files can easily be imported into another Wordpress environment or exchanged into another playerplatform
• The only thing to do besides that, is to make sure the files, pictures and movies are also migrated (FTP)

The Jukebox-user in action
• I can easily search for a support-item• If I want a hardcopy I can simply print the Support-single• I can give feedback on the support-singles through comments• Also I can rate specific Support-singles• I can submit a request for a new support single• Through polls I can give my opinion about certain subjects• Soon they also offer me the option to get a “theme-based
manual on request” (Portfolio, Grade book, top5 how-to use issues )

Lessons learned
20/25
• When there will be a major migration, this will be a practical way to realise support materials
• Collaboration is a valuable manner to get results• Content Co-creation is also fun• It’s important to separate Content issues and Content-player• The Support-Jukebox operates independent from Blackboard,
so when Bb is offline support and communication is still available

The Road ahead? We look beyond the borders of Blackboard usagefor our organization, the Jukebox can be a self-service resource of help and instructions for other items than BlackboardThe future will be a “one-stop-shopping” place• Think of the use of a Xerox Machine• Office instructions• Video-editing support• E-mail Support• Or many other uses which are not yet within our vision
