Multi-Protocol Vehicle Network Interface
The Keysight AP1200A provides Ethernet, eight channels of CAN (including CAN FD), and four channels
of LIN in one tool. All channels run simultaneously and are time-stamped in hardware. A fully-isolated
high-speed USB interface allows messages to be sent and received without risk of damage to the PC.

Stand-alone logging, scripting, gateways, and simulation
In addition to working as a PC interface, the AP1200A can operate in standalone mode. The AP00000A
Intrepid Controls Systems Vehicle software is required to configure standalone mode. It can run real-time
scripts, log data to a removable microSD card, and simulate ECUs and gateways. With these features, it is
possible to run a script to reflash ECUs using data from the microSD card.
Vehicle spy application software
With AP00000A Intrepid Controls Systems Vehicle Spy software, users can monitor and transmit on all
channels simultaneously. Users can take advantage of the powerful interface to load databases and to write
and debug scripts before downloading them to the device. For users that prefer to write their own software,
AP1200A supports three APIs: neoVI DLL API, SAE J2534 API, and the TMC RP1210 A/B API.

Hardware-in-the-loop real-time performance
The AP1200A includes a real-time scripting engine that can be used to perform real-time messaging. For
example, an engineer creating an application can load a script into the hardware and interface with the
script variables, allowing microsecond-level measurement and control.

A media converter establishes one direct point-to-point data conversion between automotive ECU’s using
Automotive Ethernet and any standard Ethernet device with RJ-45 connector. These devices are ideal for
developing applications that require Automotive Ethernet to test and validate automotive electronic control
units (ECUs). It includes ports for Automotive Ethernet connections (either MATEnet or Molex/mini 50)
and ports for 100BASE-TX Ethernet with a standard RJ-45 connection.

100/1000BASE-T1 media converter and active tap
The Keysight APM1000ET enables you to convert from 100/1000BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet to
standard 10/100/1000 Ethernet, useful for connecting a PC to a 100/1000BASE-T1 host or switch.

Media converter mode
The APM1000ET can act as a media converter, allowing a PC to interact with 100/1000BASE-T1 ECUs.
This allows you to simulate nodes or perform direct diagnostics or ECU flashing. In addition, the “pure”
media converter mode disables encapsulation of messages and allows connections between media of
differing bit rates, buffering as needed.

Active tap configuration
The Keysight APM1000ET can act as an active tap, transparently interposing itself between a pair of
100/1000BASE-T1 Automotive Ethernet devices. This can be either an ECU-to-switch or ECU-to-ECU
link. The traffic from each device on a tapped link is forwarded to its partner, ensuring seamless
operation of the network.
100/1000BASE-T1 media converter
Keysight’s APM1000E is an advanced Ethernet media converter. The APM1000E converts from
100BASE-T1 Ethernet to 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-T1 to 1000BASE-TX. This is useful for connecting a
PC to a 100/1000BASE-T1 host or switch.

CAN and CAN FD Interfaces
These are low-cost, high-performance interfaces for CAN and CAN FD networks. They offer CAN FD
support, double-buffered CAN transmission, software-controlled CAN bus termination, LED indicators for
CAN traffic, standalone operation over USB, a ruggedized metal case with protective rubber boot, and
high-speed USB 2.0 support (480 Mbps) with Type A or Type C connectors.
Multiple channel and cable configuration options permit support for 1, 2 or 4 CAN / CAN FD channels, as
well as an option that includes Ethernet/DoIP.

Low-cost high-performance CAN FD – USB interface
The AP0200A comes with software-controlled CAN termination, increased buffer size, improved USB latency
performance, and standalone operating capability using a USB charger.
The AP0200A supports 2x CAN or CAN FD channels, has USB Type A and Type C options available, and
certified drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10.
The AP0200A is fully isolated from the PC, and its isolation layer is self-powered from USB, which eliminates
the need for external power for the CAN transceiver. The AP0200A isolation, a feature not common on low-
cost interfaces, eliminates issues with grounding or noise affecting your PC and its communications. The
AP0200A is also electrically hardened to survive an abusive environment, including reverse battery voltage
and electrical transients. To make wiring easy, the device pinout is printed clearly on the housing.

4 CAN FD – USB single cable interface
The AP0400A has four channels of CAN FD in one cable. The AP0400A is a high-quality tool family for
CAN FD and CAN 2.0. It offers software-controlled CAN termination, low USB latency, cybersecurity
support, and standalone operation via 5V USB power supply.
The AP0400A is fully isolated from the PC. The isolation feature, which is not common on low cost
interfaces, resolves issues with grounding or noise affecting the PC. The AP0400A is electrically hardened
to survive abusive environments, including reverse battery and electrical transients.
The AP0400A has a strong aluminum case with a protective rubber boot. The USB and rugged cable end
connectors are integrated in the device. The device pinout is printed on the housing to make wiring easy.
The AP0400A has been tested and verified to support 4 high-bandwidth CAN FD networks. This includes
100% utilization at 8 Mb/s data rates on both CAN FD channels.

DoIP standard – CAN FD single cable interface
The AP04E0A is part of the same family of high-quality tools for CAN FD and CAN 2.0 as the AP0400A
family.
Advancements like software-controlled CAN termination, lower USB latency, cybersecurity support, and
standalone operation via 5V USB power supply are also part of the AP04E0A family. The AP04E0A is
fully isolated from the PC, resolving issues with grounding or noise affecting the PC. The AP04E0A is
electrically hardened to survive abusive environments, including reverse battery and electrical transients.
The AP04E0A has a strong aluminum case with rubber boot and surround LEDs indicating status of the
device and its networks. The device pinout is printed on the housing to make wiring easy. The AP04E0A
has been tested and verified to support two high-bandwidth CAN FD networks, 1 LIN and 1 Ethernet. This
includes 100% utilization at 8 Mb/s data rates on both CAN FD channels.
The AP04E0A is supports the Diagnostic over IP (DoIP) standard. The activation line is included on the
connector.
The AP04E0A can be used with Vehicle Spy (AP00000A) to check the termination of an attached CAN
network. This is done by generating a CAN error frame and measuring how much time the bus takes to
recover from the error (with microsecond-level resolution).

vehicle bus signals and messages. Automatic message highlighting shows exactly what data is changing
on each vehicle network. The messages Editor screen makes it simple for users to quickly set up transmit
and receive messages and signals for real-time communication on the vehicle network. Post-analysis

Scripting and automation
There are Function Blocks that enable users to easily set up automated tasks and simulate nodes and
ECUs without learning a complicated, text-based computer language. If more control is required, the C
Code Interface guides you through building a project in Microsoft Visual C, giving you access to anything
accessible through Visual C. Access security DLL files, external hardware, or the Win32API, and interface
that information with your networks.
