PRESIDENT’S REPORT JULY 2019 How time flies.
My time as President has come to an end.
I would like to thank the Board and all the Members who supported
me throughout the year. Without your support, advice, assistance
and encouragement it would have been a daunting prospect to take on
the role of President of such a club that has so many members with
years of experience and knowledge.
I wish Janelle and her new Board well and to enjoy the fun and
fellowship along the way.
Thank you
Sheila

Membership Report
Membership currently at 53 members
Unfortunately we have lost some very good people this year. Two of these are long time
excellent members Geoffrey and Carolanne Bowden. Both have been President and
Geoffrey is a life member and therefore cannot resign. Both decisions were accepted
with regret.
We are slowly moving into a stage of new growth and all we need is a couple of younger
people to renew the vigour we all had when we started.
Yeppoon Convention We are doing a presentation for our club. It won't be the big full on one that we will do in Proston, but it will be impressive. Our Convention We have decided to hold convention planning meetings every two months at this stage. We have the shirts and I ask everyone to see me or our apparel office, Dagmar. We have locked in all our venues which is wonderful and our presentation to Yeppoon is almost done, we are on track, At our last Dinner Meeting on 18 June, Chris showed us what the shirts could look like with Pelicans etc on them in light blue. The cost is $14 each.

Repent O Scottish Sinner
As it happened, he got away with this for some time, but eventually the Baptist Church
decided to do a big restoration job on the outside of one of their biggest buildings.
Smokey put in a bid and, because his price was so low, he got the job.
So he set about erecting the scaffolding and setting up the planks, and buying the paint
and, yes, I am sorry to say, thinning it down with water...
Well, Smokey was up on the scaffolding, painting away, the job nearly completed, when
suddenly there was a horrendous clap of thunder, the sky opened, and the rain poured
down washing the thinned paint from all over the church and knocking Smokey clear off
the scaffold to land on the lawn among the gravestones, surrounded by telltale puddles of
the thinned and useless paint. Smokey was no fool. He knew this was a judgment from
the Almighty, so he got down on his knees and cried:
"Oh, God, Oh God, forgive me; what should I do?"
And from the thunder, a mighty voice spoke.
Repaint! Repaint! And thin no more!"

Hi Folks For all the members who can’t make the Thursday morning van cleans, then here is your opportunity. There is a major effort required on Sat 6 July at 1.00pm to give the Chip van its major clean (including removing the chip vats). Regulars are also invited. We will also take this opportunity (assuming we get plenty of volunteers) to do a bit of a clean out at the Den. As an enticement, there will be a BBQ (drinks included) provided. This is known in TNLC as a work social. Those allergic to hard work and partners are also invited. For catering, please reply to me and include your preference for steak, burger or sausage (or all three). Cheers Paul
