Anisotropic Diffusion MRI Phantom Options

Phantom container • 16 cm diameter polystyrene (GPPS) sphere • phantom filler port (polycarbonate screw with rubber O-ring) • acrylic phantom support • phantoms are fixed to the support with white tie-wraps

The phantom is filled with a solution of • distilled water • 4 g/l NaCl • 0.05% w/w NaN3 • 0.03 g/l MnCl2

Crossing Fiber Phantom

• Crossing anisotropic diffusion phantom with crossing angles (θ) of approximately 30, 50 and 65 degrees in 3 near-orthogonal planes

• The crossing consists of 2 x 25 interdigitating bundles of 400 yarns. Each yarn consists of 18 fibers.

Kissing fiber phantom

• 2 bundles of 10,000 yarns = 180,000 fibers • Variable angle of the bundles: approx 30, 50 or 65 degrees

Tubular Phantoms

• tubular anisotropic diffusion phantoms with 180,000 parallel fibers in 3 orthogonal planes

A combination of the phantom models is possible!
