• Relative Locations:– Mesopotamia was approximately 300 miles
long and 150 miles wide. – It was located between the Tigris and
Euphrates Rivers. – Mesopotamia is located in current day Iraq.

• Place includes Human Features:– Language– Culture– Religion– Buildings and Cities

• Regions are areas that share common characteristics.
• The region of Mesopotamia:– Southwestern Asia– Region is known as “The Fertile Crescent”– This region had two landscapes:
• the Northern Zone was mountainous. • The Southern area was mainly desert, except
along the banks of these two rivers.
Movement Movement
• Over centuries, Mesopotamian civilizations developed through movement, mingling, and settlement in rich river valleys and plains.
• Movement consisted of boats, wagons, and horses.
• Mesopotamians used the rivers for trade.
