The Power of TwoWorking Together as One
In 2009, AB joined the Sonova Group of companies and began an
unprecedented collaboration with Phonak, the world leader in hearing
aid technology. Working together, they have introduced exciting new
innovations to AB recipients that no other manufacturer can match, with
the promise of more groundbreaking solutions to come.
AB’s Naída CI sound processors integrate Phonak technologies that millions
of hearing aid users around the world rely on to connect and communicate
with confidence. This range of innovations has established Advanced Bionics
as the clear leader in technology specifically designed for better hearing
with two ears, whether you use two sound processors or one processor and
a compatible Phonak hearing aid.
If you are considering two cochlear implants for you or your child, either now
or in the future, only AB’s Naída CI sound processors offer unique Phonak
Binaural VoiceStream Technology™, providing hearing performance no
other cochlear implant system can offer. This group of features is designed
to help you better understand speech in complex listening situations by
focusing on a single voice and transmitting that voice to both ears at the
same time, while reducing any distracting noises around you. It also includes
a feature that enables one-touch control of both processors, so when you
adjust the settings on one processor, the other automatically adjusts to the
same settings.
The innovation DNA of AB and Phonak have combined to deliver performance technologies that will change the way you hear. To learn how this unique collaboration provides advantages for hearing your best as you explore life’s rich soundscape, please contact an AB representative, or visit AdvancedBionics.com.
Beyond BilateralEveryone knows that hearing with two ears is better than one. It’s not just common sense, it’s supported by scientific research.1-3
All ages can benefit from listening with two ears. It makes it easier to understand speech in noisy environments and to determine where sounds are coming from.
Cochlear implant recipients hear with both ears in two ways — either bilaterally (with a cochlear implant in each ear) or bimodally (with a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other). Only AB and Phonak go beyond bilateral and bimodal hearing with Binaural VoiceStream Technology™.
Through AB’s unique partnership with Phonak, Advanced Bionics leads the industry in bimodal solutions, with the largest portfolio of sophisticated accessories that stream audio to a Naída CI processor and a compatible Phonak hearing at the same time. But with Binaural VoiceStream Technology, your ears are able to work together in unique and clever ways to enhance your hearing experience.
• Hear naturally & automatically
• Hear in even the most challenging listening situations
• Hear phone calls in both ears

Phonak Binaural VoiceStream TechnologyThe groundbreaking Phonak Binaural VoiceStream Technology™ in your
Naída CI sound processors doesn’t simply process sounds independently,
like other systems. It gives your processors the unique ability to
communicate with each other.
Your processors work together, automatically and in real time. They
intelligently focus on the sound you want to hear and deliver it wirelessly
to both ears simultaneously, while significantly reducing unwanted noises.
As a result, you get the maximum possible speech understanding in
any environment.

StereoZoom FeatureThis Phonak technology focuses on a speaker in front of you so you can follow a
one-on-one conversation more easily in a very noisy situation.
When noise levels reach a level that makes understanding one person in
a crowd difficult, StereoZoom uses the signals from the front and back
microphones on both processors to help you focus on the person you are
listening to. Phonak Binaural VoiceStream Technology™ enables StereoZoom to
simultaneously stream full audio signals from one processor to the other and
vice versa. The signals are analyzed and processed in real time to create a very
narrow beam, which effectively focuses on the single voice you want to hear,
while the competing sounds around you are reduced.
StereoZoom helps you carry on conversations in the kind of crowded, noisy gatherings
that make hearing difficult for everyone.

ZoomControl FeatureThis Phonak technology focuses on a speaker in front of, behind, or beside you,
so you can hear and understand better in noisy environments, even if you’re not
able to face the person speaking to you.
Using Phonak Binaural VoiceStream Technology™, the speaker’s voice is picked
up by one processor and wirelessly transmitted to your other processor, so you
hear clearly in both ears simultaneously. At the same time, distracting noises
around you are reduced, making it even easier to understand.
If you are driving a car, you will hear the passenger’s voice instantaneously in
both ears. At a party, on a busy street, or in the audience at a live event, you can
chat more easily and with greater comfort.

DuoPhone with T-Mic
DuoPhone FeatureThis Phonak technology streams phone calls in real time to both ears simultaneously.
When you hold the phone to one ear, the processor on that ear instantaneously
transmits the sound to your other processor. At the same time, distracting noises
around you are reduced. Because you hear the caller’s voice in stereo,
conversations are much easier to understand, even in noisy surroundings.
Research shows that DuoPhone enhances your ability to recognize words in quiet and
in noise when the phone signal is streamed wirelessly to both ears compared to hearing
the signal in one ear alone.*
Because DuoPhone is programmed in your Naída CI sound processors, it doesn’t
require any other accessory or technology to work. This means you get the same
great benefit with any telephone you use, including regular landlines at home or in
the office.

QuickSync FeatureThis synchronization technology provides one-touch control of your processors
for convenient and instant adjustments to volume and program settings on both
Naída CI sound processors.
With other systems, if you want to change a setting, you need to adjust each
processor individually, one after the other, or use a remote control. Only AB gives
you the unique convenience of one-touch control. Because your processors
are able to communicate with each other, any volume or program adjustment
you make on one side can be automatically transmitted to the other, so both
processors are always on the same setting.
