Art Space / Art Projects / Dedicated to celebrating new art
Earlier this year, adidas Originals unveiled the all-embracing ‘Celebrate Originality’ brand campaign. Evolving from the successful 2009 “house party”, this year’s campaign embrac-
es the “streets where originality lives”. In a neighbourhood, it brings together an eclectic mix of people from the worlds of music, fashion and sport, all showing their individual appreciation of originality and the adidas brand. Born in sport but now living in contemporary lifestyles, adidas Originals is uniquely able
to be a relevant part of people’s lives. No matter whether skater, rocker, artist, musician or sports fan, they have all adopted the Trefoil brand and its products. The 2010 adidas Originals campaign welcomes an illustrious group of artists and athletes from all over the world to the street where originality lives. The campaign has been running globally and now, Cape Town is invited to join the campaign
and experience the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in a way that only adidas Originals can bring to life. For the duration of the FIFA World Cup™, adidas Originals will be hosting a series of exhibi-tions, creative events, exciting music line-ups, a pop up store, skate area and weekly themed menus by The Kitchen. All of this will live at 66/68 Albert Road.
Three Stories, hosted by /A WORD OF ART, will be your creative home away from home for the duration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Join us at one of our six exhibition openings and find out more about our “invitation only” 2010 FIFA World Cup™ viewing area.Three Stories will come alive during the FIFA World Cup™, giving the building and Wood-
stock a major creative boost. The city of Cape Town has therefore given the project a “legacy programme” status.
This 60 year old industrial building situated in the heart of Woodstock, the new up-and-coming creative precinct,
is now the home to a diverse mix of artists, designers, sculptors, crafters and photographers which live alongside factories, carpenters and bakeries. The building, together with /A WORD OF ART, aim to support
artists’ needs and help towards the development of Wood-stock and a creative Cape Town.
/A WORD OF ART is an evolving story, which has organically taken shape over the years, with each project becoming a new chapter. /A WORD OF ART aims to create inspiring art projects
and experiences rather than white wall gallery shows. The chapters will come to reflect what is happening within the South African new-brow, low-brow and street art movements.
For the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the W.I.C will become the home to Three Stories of originality.
THREE STORIES.Open daily from 15h00 - 23h00. Free to the publicSee www.adidas.com/originals for daily news and more

Papergirl is an art project which, in the style of American paperboys, distributes rolled art pieces by bicycle to people in the streets. It consists of an exhibition, the action (distribu-
tion of the art) and a party. Papergirl was started in Berlin and now exists in 16 cities worldwide. Papergirl-SA will
exhibit the artwork on the 25th and then host the Ride Day on the 26th of June to give away to people in the streets for free. We will then enjoy the ‘Papergirl Picnic’ after party with live music and treats from The Kitchen. The basic idea with the project is to bring art to the public in a different way, to surprise peo-
ple and bring them into contact with art in their everyday lives. The idea of distributing art by bicycle came from the search for new ways to bring art straight to society whilst having fun!
Papergirl is in short: participatory, analogue, non-commercial and impulsive. This means: Everyone can participate by submitting art and/or by helping with the distribution. If you would like to submit artwork or participate in the Ride Day please mail [email protected]. Drop off your artwork at /AWOA Art Space by 20 June 2010.
