Active Australia helps by providing a framework of development for organisations in the business of offering sporting activities.
Volunteer Statistics
• The estimated number of volunteers aged 18 years and over in 2000 was 4,395,600, representing 32% of the civilian population of the same age.
• In 1995 the estimated 3,189,400 volunteers represented 24% of the population.

• In 2000, volunteers contributed 704.1 million hours of voluntary work, an increase on the 1995 figure of 511.7.

These statistics exclude the 62,000 volunteers (47,000 for the Olympics and 15,000 for the Paralympics) from the Sydney 2000 Games.
• Sport and recreation volunteers contributed 21% of all voluntary hours - nearly 148 million hours.

VMP and CAMP The Volunteer Management Program (VMP) and Club/Association Management Program (CAMP) have been developed to support clubs and associations that want to improve their volunteer management and organisational management practices.
Club/Association Management Program
Aims to improve the environments in which sport is delivered.
Encourage sport clubs & organisations to examine how they operate and how they can improve their operations.
Better organised and managed sport clubs and organisations.
More and better trained volunteers who stay longer.
