Acronis True Image 2014 – Restore Image
Acronis True Image 2014 can restore a partition from its image in one of two ways, from the desktop application or from the Bootable Media Disk (see Acronis 2014 – Create Bootable Disk). If you are restoring a system partition, the desktop application gathers the information required then reboots into a Linux operating system to restore your partition. Desktop Application – See below. Boot Media Disk – See page 5
Desktop Application -- This process will be demonstrated by recovering the System partition
both ways. Start Acronis TI 2014 Click on Recover
Select which backup to use Click Recover You may need to Browse for a Backup. Click here

Next choose the backup to use for the recovery
It is important to note that you could recover more than one partition. Also, the major advantage of using the desk application is that the drive letters do not change Next select the partition(s) to restore Click Recover now
The software displays this dialog while preparing to recover Wait patiently

Since we are replacing an operating system we get this warning. Click Restart
Computer reboots and this message appears
Then you see this message
A progress screen appears. Wait patiently You’ll find that the remaining time varies wildly.
When the process completes, the screen goes blank and the computer reboots.

To recover with the boot media, you need to make changes to your Win8 computer. Consult your vendors instruction manual (look on line) for how to change the boot order. When your computer boots from the Acronis recovery media the first screen will appears. Click the number 1 key to start the boot process
This flash screen appears. Hook up your external hard drive with your backup images
When Acronis True Image starts Click My Disk below Recover

In the next screen, usually no images are displayed. Click Browse To locate the image you want to use to recover.
On your external hard drive locate and click on the recovery image To use selected image, click on Next

On the next wizard Click Recover whole disks and partitions Clcik Next
In the Select Items Wizard Select the partition you wish to recover. (Start with the Operating System Partition, this usually fixes the problem) Click Next

The next wizard asks you where on your computer hard drive you want to put the recovered partition Click New Location
This screen lets you specify where you want the recovered partition to be placed Click on your choice to selected it Click Accept

We are done Click Next
This wizard presents a Summary of the Recovery operation. Review it, make changes if necessary. Click Proceed

This process may take several minutes.
When the process is done this dialog comes up. Click OK
Next you’ll need to X out Acronis True Image. Your machine may reboot, but I have usually had to turn the computer off, by holding power button down for 5 seconds. Then turn your computer on and it will power up the way it did when you created the backup image.
