A nn-Marie Toomer Gayle was wasat first sceptical when her doctorintroduced her to the ITK Wave Diet

System in May 2016. Having tried dietingbefore and failing, she was not excited tostart another diet system, especially one thatshe had not heard of before. But weighing 295pounds and tired of feeling lethargic all thetime, she decided to try the system. Eight months later and 65 pounds lighter, she was happy that she did. It was just afterthe Christmas holidays and Ann-Marie wascelebrating the fact that she was able to finishthe season without gaining weight. “When I went on the scale this morningI said yes! I didn’t gain one ounce. I mean it isjust the discipline that you gain when youare on the ITK system. You still eat the thingsthat you like but in moderation,” she said. The ITK Wave Diet System introducesa personalised meal assignment for individualswho are seriously ready to lose weight. Themeal assignments are distributed on a weeklybasis utilising ITK’s breakthrough formula.

Chief Executive Officer GeorgeRattray, who lost 120 pounds in 10 months, explains that the system was designed tobetter the gastric modification proceduresutilising the ITK specialised formulas, alongwith multiple proven principles of weightmanagement. He says the meal assignments varyfrom week to week to avoid boredom andincludes all types of proteins, vegetables, fruits, wholewheat bread and cereals. It alsoallows cheat meals on special occasions, after consulting with a coach. Mr. Rattray informs that the averageweight loss for the ITK diet is two to fourpounds per week. This, against the averageweight loss for gastric modification surgerywhich is one to two pounds per week. Statistics show that the number onenew year’s resolution is to lose weight. Thosesame statistics show that approximately 85per cent of people who lose weight regain it.

Mr. Rattray says the Maintenance Phase ofthe ITK Diet System is designed to ensurethat this does not happen and membersmaintain their weight loss. Chief Operating Officer, AndreaBryan notes that the ITK Wave is differentand is not a fad diet but a system whichencourages and motivates members to createnew habits aimed at keeping the weight off”. The key to the success of the system iscommunication. “We encourage members tocommunicate openly, regularly and honestly,”she says. Members are asked to record their actualmeals on a daily basis, as well as weightchanges and other critical measurement data.“It is important that this information be givento us, as this will help us formulate ourmembers’ next meal assignment,” MissBryan adds. To aid in the process, the ITK OnlineMeal Tracker Database was developed.Miss Bryan says the system greatly improved

the method by which members log their weightand meals. It also enabled the ITK team tobetter monitor, analyse and assign meals. She explains that the meal tracker data-base officially came online for ITK WaveTeam members in March 2016 and the ITKMaintenance Clients in July 2016. Thevision, she says, is for members to comfort-ably log and report actual meals to the ITKteam weekly, ensuring that discipline andstructure are maintained. The database also allows the ITK teamto track daily, weekly and periodic progressas members lose weight; keep track of previousmeals and body responses to assignments;enter and update vitals such as body fat per-centage, BMI, blood pressure and waist sizeand keep a daily track of calorie intake.

Members receive new weekly assignmentsbased on performance of the previous weekto ensure weight loss is maintained. Miss Bryanalso encourages participants to join variouscommunication groups and correspond withtheir mentors and coaches who are assignedat the beginning of the Programme.

“We also have ITK challenges. This isto ensure that members remain motivatedthroughout their journey to wellness,” MissBryan informs. As a member of ITK who lost 40 poundsin four months, Miss Bryan says an impor-tant outcome is that persons learn how theirbody reacts to different foods, when to eatwhat foods and how to control their cravings. Maintain Weight Loss These are the tools that help Ann-Marie on her weight loss journey. “I meanit helps me because I know now how tomonitor the food that I eat. I’m on a main-tenance programme, so I monitor what Ieat. I may indulge a little but the pro-gramme helps me to keep on track,” she says. Denworth Finnikin embarked on hisITK journey in June. He describes the systemas “challenging at first, especially in thefirst two weeks. “But because the resultswere happening in front my eyes, I wasvery motivated… I lost approximately 45lb”. Like the others, 20-year-old DominiqueRussell Sykes also began the ITK Systemin June and has dropped 50lb since then.He feels better both physically and mentally. “Anyone who does the diet and seesthat they are losing weight will mentallyfeel better as well as physically, and willsee that they will perform better throughoutthe day,” he encourages.
