Plagiarism The unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work.
Research question: You will be researching your family’s country of origin. The research you will conduct will span across reading, science, civics and math.
Guidelines: 1. Full cooperation is needed in the library, computer lab and classroom. 2. Document all sources as soon as you find them 3. You may use resources from other libraries; however, a source sheet will be required. 4. Meet all deadlines! 5. Plagiarism is grounds for failure. 6. If you miss a day in the library, you must make it up on your own time. 7. If you aren’t sure about something, please ask! 8. High quality work is expected

Where do I find information on a Database?
FYI--Databases are massive collections of data, which allow for retrieval of the data. Library databases consist primarily of indexes, abstracts, and full-text material. They are collections of articles from newspapers, magazines and journals and electronic reference sources. In many cases, the material provided through these services had previously been available in print form.

Parenthetical Citations If you use someone else’s ideas or words, you must give the person credit. If the ideas or words are not your own and you do not give the author credit, that is called plagiarism. Being found of plagiarism will result in a failing grade. It is important that a clear distinction be made between your thoughts and that of the research you found. To avoid plagiarism, you must cite all quotations, summaries, and paraphrases as well as any facts or ideas that are not common knowledge. PAY ATTENTION TO ALL PUNCTUATION!
The correct way to give someone credit is to use citations within the text and a work cited page.
