On Saturday, March 23rd , we will have
a craft and mini quilt retreat in the
clubhouse ballroom, from 9:00am to
3pm. Please bring your craft items or
sewing machine and project to work on.
Think about making something for
someone to show you care. There is a sign up sheet
on the bulletin board. We enjoy seeing what others
are working on and they inspire us to try something
new. This is not a class but we always learn
something from each other. You don’t have to stay
the whole time, just whatever fits into your schedule.
If you have any questions, please call Patti Rich at
780-1982 or Bett Stiefel at 778-2288.

A Valentine’s Day Dance was held on February
14th because it was Heart Month. This benefit
dance was held to help the Florida Hospital to
provide heart scans for the premature babies who
are in need of this service. Thanks to the residents
of Southport Springs who supported this function.
Over $1100.00 was raised. Our Southport Band
donated their services to make it a huge success.
Our next event will be the garage sale. If you are
not having a sale, we would appreciate any
donations, as all proceeds will go to charity, to be
determined at a later date. Our meetings are held on
the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. New
members are welcome.
Women’s Club
There is a volunteer committee,. Totally separate
from Southport Springs management, and the HOA.
The sole purpose of this committee is to provide a
memorial luncheon for the family and friends of a
deceased resident of Southport Springs. We provide
this service only at the request of the family, for the
specified number of guests the family feel wi1l
attend.
It is the policy of the committee, that the lunchmeat
trays and sandwich buns be paid for by the family.
The committee then will gather from throughout the
community the remaining dishes needed.
If you need our service, please call one of the
following: Sandy Fenlock -779-2283, Phyllis
Mathews -715-7387, Pat Rogerson– 783-3734

the office so we can send someone out to fix it.
Please Do Not flush foreign objects down your
toilets, this clogs the pumps at the lift station.
Please dispose of objects properly. This will be
greatly appreciated.
Speed Limit: Just a reminder our Speed Limit
is 15 MPH, There are still too many people
speeding in our community. We need to slow
down. Our roads are very busy this time of year
with the golf carts, walkers and bike riders.

Pkwy. It is now a 3 way stop. We have also
installed cart crossing and yield right away

March Golf News
Golf Association The meeting for the club championship will be
March 7th at 4pm and the club championship will be
held March 9th & 10th.
We will have a meeting on the 19th of March to take
nominations and elect a president of the golf
association.
Sand hill cranes have been digging up parts of the
course, spraying should start soon. The Florida Fish
and Wildlife Conservation Commission passed a
restriction on feeding wildlife including sand hill
cranes effective May 2002. People who are caught
feeding these bird and other animals can face steep
fines and jail time. You can report violators to the
Rewards hot line by calling 888-404-3922.
Residents have been observed letting their dogs run
free on the driving range, please keep your dogs off
the driving range. There is enough room without
using the range and we don’t want your dog crap on
our balls.
Golfers please obey the stop sign at Bubba and
Jomar, quite a few of the golfers coming off 18 are
in a hurry to get to hole 1 or the club house and they
roll through the stop and roll out onto Jomar. We
don’t want to see anyone injured because they didn't
stop.
Anyone wanting to make suggestions or complaints
drop them in the suggestion box in the caddy shack.
Please make sure that you SIGN all correspondence,
and we will get back to the person
submitting the correspondence. Any
members wanting to volunteer to ranger,
leave your name in the caddy shack.
El Presidente, Terry Lebo
The Southport Springs HOA has elected a new
board for the 2013 year. The officers are Dick
Knoles - President, Barbara Holdridge - Vice-
President, Barbara Phillips - Secretary, Marie
Ptyza - Treasurer, and Directors Linda Phelps,
Carl Lawson and Gerald Knierim.
The Board meetings are open to HOA members
only but this year the town hall meeting is open
to all residents of Southport Springs. The HOA
board would like to know more of what the
residents of Southport Springs think, not just the
HOA members, and we hope that more residents
will join once they see what we are about.
We are pleased to see that the new stop sign and
the cart signs have been installed and also that the
owners are starting to get bids to contract the
street repairs starting with the entrance, lower
Ranger Parkway and Clubber Court. The Tennis
Court is in need of repair and the owners are
getting bids on getting the courts resurfaced.
B e s u r e t o c h e c k t h e w e b s i t e

HOA and also the digital edition of the Villager.
Remember the board meets on the first Tuesday
of the month for a work session only at the Little
clubhouse at 4:30pm and the Board meeting is
the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm in
the Ballroom. These meetings are only open to
members of the HOA, but after the Board
meeting on the second Tuesday of the month the
Town Hall meeting is open to all residents of
Southport Springs. The time will be
approximately 7:30pm. Looking forward to
seeing everyone there. Dick Knoles
