21st Annual NEW CARDIOVASCULARHORIZONS CONFERENCE
A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
wenty-one years after its inception, New Cardiovascular Horizons continues to focus on its mission of improving healthcare for patients with peripheral
vascular disorders and establishing the link between these disorders and overall cardiovascular mortality. Improving outcomes requires better providers and patient awareness, effective and precise diagnosis, state-of-the-art medical therapy with longitudinal follow-up, and implementation of advanced interventional and surgical treatment. It also requires better wound healing, rehabilitation, and addressing the high-risk of cardio-vascular death predominately related to myocardial and cerebral ischemia. Outcomes are closely related to thorough evaluation and close cooperation between multiple disciplines.
Visionary inventors, healthcare providers, interventional pioneers, epidemiologists, medical administrators, and medical companies share this vision. They have joined NCVH in growing numbers to help achieve this goal of improving patient care. Hospital and practice administrators are now attending in increasing numbers as it is becoming progressively apparent that the treatment of peripheral vascular disorders is a vital part of overall medical care.
Didactic lectures, debates, hands-on sessions, live cases with exceptional operators from around the world, detailed new technique descriptions, and our new technology session have been an integral part of our conference. We have a large and growing, fellows course with extensive simulator exposure. Sessions on the treatment of venous disorders, the similarities of coronary CTO and CLI treatment, gender disparity, radiation protection, office-based procedures, the business of medicine, and wound healing are a growing part of this conference. As you can see, NCVH has sessions for the most advanced peripheral interventionists, as well as those just beginning to treat peripheral disorders. NCVH attendees loyally return year after year to receive practical education delivered in a congenial atmosphere. The meeting has grown because of recommendations to others by these attendees. I sincerely hope that you will attend our 21st Annual Conference to experience why attendees return and join us as advocates for better care of peripheral vascular disorders.
See you in New Orleans!Thank you,
Craig M. WalkerNCVH Founder and Chairman

A CONVERSATION WITH THE TITANS OF BUSINESS
TUESDAY, MAY 26Chairmen: Mary L. Yost, MBACraig M. Walker, MD
Peripheral artery disease is a global challenge. We have assembled some of the brightest minds to address outcomes, reimbursements and future trends. This forum focuses on the business of medicine and why it is essential to every community, hospital, interventional lab and patient. It will also touch on medical intervention and how new technology will affect cost and outcomes. Furthermore, there will be numerous discussions on the business aspects of outpatient vascular centers and other practice options.
LeadershipMary L. Yost is a national thought leader in PAD economic research and consulting. Her training as an economist at the University of California, Berkeley and experience on Wall Street combined with her passion for PAD and CLI education has led her to be the nation’s expert on the economic impact of peripheral disease and financial consequence of unnecessary amputation.

1 st AnnualVENOUS THROMBOEMBOLISM (VTE) COURSE
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27 | GENERAL SESSIONChairman: Pradeep Nair, MDUnderstanding VTE is crucial for all medical practitioners, irrespective of specialty. We all see it, we all treat it, and patients suffer from it. Yet, there still remains a variance in treatment strategies depending upon region of practice and clinical expertise.
Since the turn of the century, numerous thrombectomy devices have been cleared by the FDA, yet these were mostly intended for the arterial system. Thanks to innovation, we now have multiple tools dedicated for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. This session will provide a contemporary approach on who, when, and how to treat VTE from the acute all the way through to the chronic phase of the disease.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27 | GENERAL SESSION
Insight into tomorrow’s emerging technologies and treatments for peripheral disease by faculty who are defining and setting the bar for complex endovascular interventions. Learning methods include rapid fire didactic lectures, specialty-specific content and live case transmissions by leading institutions from around the world.

FRIDAY, MAY 29 | GENERAL SESSION
A vitally important, but often overlooked topic. We dive further into the different symptoms and treatments of male vs. female, along with racial differentiations for peripheral interventions. With cardiovascular disease being the number one cause of death in women, this is an exciting topic to explore at a time when so few are giving it the attention it deserves.
