® Building Families of Lifetime Readers
March, 2006 Dear Parents, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Teachers, Librarians, and everyone who reads to children,
Here is the new 2006 Read Aloud America list of recommended books to read aloud to children, from infants to teens and beyond.
We continue to use the same criteria for our reading list:
Excellent read-aloud appeal Cross-section of male/female main characters, genres, and popular authors Strong development of characters, plot, themes, and subtle moral (character- building) messages Age group appropriateness
We hope you will find this list a helpful guide to some of the best published books for reading aloud. Please email me at [email protected] with your comments and recommended read-aloud favorites. Thank you to Marci Prins and all the contributors who compiled this list. Enjoy! Jed Gaines Jed Gaines Founder & President Read Aloud America P. S.
