AI-60 NMR Rapid Crude Oil Assay Application NoteAI-03
Crude Oil Assays are multi-step, multi-experiment labmeasurements, some with complicated procedures. While thesemethods produce much needed information for process andproduction purposes, they are labor intensive, time consuming, require significant sample preparation, and, long analysestimes. Because of these, detailed crude oil qualitymeasurements are often “reduced” to only density and sulfurmeasurements.
With the AI-60 High Resolution NMR, wide ranging predictivemodels, Crude Oil distillation cut points, density, water andestimated sulfur are determined within minutes with minimalsample preparation. These critical measurements can now bemade at-line on a real time basis in the plant providing theability to optimize the refining process while reducing analyticallabor. Further, the measurements are applicable to wholecrudes as well as blends, whether purchased on the market or inthe tanks inside the refinery gates. NMR predicted propertiesinclude:
• Crude Simulated Distillation – ASTM D2887)IBP, Cumulative 150C, Cumulative 220C, Cumulative 350C, Cumulative 520C
• Density – (ASTM D1298)• Water in Crude (ASTM D4377 or ASTM 4928)• Total Sulfur Estimate (ASTM D4294)
AI-60 NMR Rapid Crude Oil Assay provides rapid analyses of Crude Oils:
• From multiple sources (Tankers, pipelines, storage tanks, feed tanks, and, on-line feed analyses to crude distillation units).• Updates historical assay data rapidly and accurately.• Analyses single source straight crude oils or customized blends without the need of specialized databases. • Maximizes LP, APC and Optimizer performance with accurate and up to date crude oil properties.
The Aspect AI-60 Rapid Crude Oil Assay Applicationoffers a rapid, accurate, automated, user friendlyalternative for conventional petroleum laboratoryanalyses.
