Decided improvement has been noticedall through the business section of the citytoday in the manner in which peopleobserve the city traffic ordinance as aresult of stationing an officer at the Casecorner yesterday, said the chief of thepolice department this morning, and hebelieves that the ordinance can beenforced until people become more usedto it, without the necessity of any trouble.Although no officer is specially delegatedto any one corner today, watch is beingkept on all corners of the city with a viewto getting the custom of turning on theright side of the street established. Chief Jones says he has warned severalpersons for the last time, and will beginmaking arrests, if any repeat the offense,but on the whole everyone is complyingwith the traffic law.

Competing against students in seniorhigh school English classes, Miss IoneChapin was declared the winneryesterday in the essay contest sponsoredby the Codington county Public Healthassociation on the subject, "How To KeepTuberculosis Out of the High School."Following reading of the essays, judgesgave second place to James McBathwith John Mackenzie awarded third andLois Brenner fourth. Cash prizes of $4,$3, $2 and $1 respectively went to thefour winners. Miss Chapin's winningessay will be entered in competition withthose by students in other schools in astatewide contest conducted annually bythe South Dakota Public Healthassociation. Following selection of the sixbest essays, winners will broadcast themlate in December. Judges in the localcontest were J.E. Messer, Miss HazelDeToy and the Rev. O.C. Hanson.

Monday Music Club met in the home ofMrs. Don Fossey with Mrs. RobertDavis as co-hostess. Nineteen membersand one guest, Eugene Doutt, werepresent. New members welcomed wereMary Meierhofer, Mrs. Launda Carrolland Mrs. Velma Johnshoy. Mrs. GlenPaterson, program chairman, introducedthe program. Mrs. Don Fossey playedorgan selections by the Broadwaycomposers George Gershwin, ColePorter, Vincent Youman, Victor Herbertand Sigmund Romberg. She also playedpiano solos, "Kitten On the Keys" by ZezConfrey, and "Russian Dance" byEngelmann. Mrs. Stan Rishoi playedthree movements from "Sonata I in C" byW.A. Mozart on the piano. Eugene Douttgave a presentation on pipe organsexplaining how they are made and howthe different sounds are made.

Other selections includesenior Cathy Roeder and junior JamiKretchmer of De Smet, senior JackieWeelborg and junior Stacey Taschner ofHamlin, senior Anjelik Gries andsophomore Leah Bakke of Sioux Valley,and junior Carmen Jaeger of Deuel. -Worthington, Minn.- Former Henry HighSchool athlete Daniel Rorvick haswrapped up his two-year football careerfor Minnesota West Community andTechnical College in Worthington, Minn.He was named to the MinnesotaCommunity College Conference's all-state team and was also voted to theNational Junior College AthleticAssociation's All-Region 13 team.
