Hints and Tips on How to be a Winner
Here’s the inside information on how the
judges look at your entry. The quality of your
construction and distinctive details are given
extraordinary attention by the judges. The design
and construction of your landscape is
important…from the intr icacies of
windowpanes, to the way you make snow or
create a natural-looking pond. Adding holiday
touches is a must. When so many entries are
being judged, it’s the little things that make the
winner stand out.
The judges strictly enforce the rules. Points are
deducted for infractions. (Examples of infractions: a
non-edible product is visible on your entry; a pond is
made with a mirror; toothpicks are used for fences;
your base is larger than specified size or is not
suitable to your presentation.)
Please make sure you read and understand
all the rules!
Most of all have fun and enjoy the simple treasures
of this Holiday Season.
Pre-Baked gingerbread kits are
available for sale at many local stores
and can be used for the competition.
Kits have all you need to get started.
(This icing is excellent for use in gingerbread
construction, both for putting pieces together
and making mounds of billowing snow. Keep
covered, as this sets quickly.)
3 large egg whites at room temperature
1/2 tsp. Cream of tartar
1 pound of 10X confectioners sugar, sifted
Place ingredients in large bowl of electric mixer.
Beat on high speed for 7-10 minutes until high,
fairly stiff peaks form. (You cannot over beat)
Use as soon as possible and keep covered until
used. This may be thinned with light corn syrup
for fine trims.
