Shri Dev Datt Sharma son of Shri Durga Dass was born on October 23, 1917 invillage Kakrai Mansar, district Udhampur. He was the only son of his parents. Hecompleted his matriculation from Punjab University Lahore and started his career

as a Revenue Official (Patwari). He got married to Shanta Sharma and was blessed withthree sons and three daughters. Besides these he had one Dharam Putar. He providedgood education to his children. His eldest son is retired from FCI, second son retired asDC Excise and daughter-in-law as Principal, his daughter is artist and her husband retiredas Director DGWB, his second daughter and her husband are doctors in NHPC and histhird daughter and her husband are in Reliance.He served as Director Rural Development, Director J and K Bank and Director Rural DevBank. After his retirement he joined politics and became the senior leader of Congress.He remained as MLA Udhampur and has the credit of planning and constructing theUdhampur - Dhar Road and Samba - Battal Roads. He had close association with PtTrilochan Dutt, Pt Girdhari Lal Dogra and Pt Mangat Ram Sharma. He in short, was awidely connected person besides being spiritual.He lost his wife five years back. He breathed his last peacefully on September 15, 2017.He is survived by his four sons and three daughters. May God give eternal peace to thedeparted soul and courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
