Yardages and SuppliesNote: WOF means width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. Seam allowances are 1/4".

Zig Dog Pillow

1/3 yard Fabric #1, SB20053.280 - 44" • Cut 1 - 12" x 21" rectangle for one side of dog body and the outside of the opposite ear.

1/4 yard Fabric #3, SB20014.720 - 44" • Cut 1 - 7" x 10" rectangle for the inside of both ears.Fiberfill stuffing.Embroidery floss in contrasting color to body.3/4" Pompom in contrasting color to body.

1/3 yard Fabric #2, SB20015.730 - 44" • Cut 1 - 12" x 21" rectangle for other side of dog body and the outside of opposite ear.

Tools

1. Print dog pattern attached.

2. Cut out all paper pieces. Overlap dog body pieces, matching placement lines and tape or pin together to create the complete body pattern.

3. Align Fabric #1 rectangle with Fabric #2 rect-angle, wrong sides together. Pin body and ear pattern pieces to fabric and cut out. You will have one side of the body and one outer ear cut from both fabrics when you’re done.

4. Fold Fabric #3 in half, wrong sides together, cre-ating a 7" x 5" rectangle. Pin ear pattern piece onto fabric and cut. These are your two inner ear pieces.

5. Use transfer paper to mark the placement lines for the eyes and ears on both body pieces.

9. Position and pin each ear at the placement lines on body. Fabric #1 ear should be placed onto Fabric #2 body, and Fabric #2 ear should be placed onto Fabric #1 body. Edge stitch close to the folded top edge of both ears to attach to body pieces.

10. Fold and pin ears up so they do not get in the way when the body pieces are sewn together.

11. With right sides together, stitch the body pieces to each other, leaving an opening at the bottom and reinforcing stitching at the begining and end.

Sewing pg.26. Fold and press the 1/4" seam allowances at the top edge of all ear pieces.

7. With right sides together, place one inner ear piece (Fabric #3), to each outer ear piece (Fabric #1 & Fabric #2). Stitch along all sides of the ear pieces, leaving the top folded edge open. Rein-force stitching at the begining and end.

8. Clip curves of seam allowances so they will lie flat. Turn ears right side out and press.

12. Clip curves of seam allowances so they will lie flat when turned. Fold and press inside the 1/4" seam allowances at the bottom opening. Turn dog pillow right side out.

Sewing pg.313. Unpin the ears. Stuff firmly with fiberfill. Use a pencil or scissors to carefully push stuffing into the tip of tail, the nose, and the legs. With thread doubled in needle, hand stitch the bottom opening closed with small slip stitches.

14. Thread a needle with 6 strands of embroidery floss and follow placement lines to stitch eyes on both sides of the body. Finally, stitch your pompom to the end of dog’s nose.
