Foreword
Your need – our solutions
What matters to us is the solution. The solution to your situation. Carl Zeiss has been a trusted
partner for the military, police and special units for more than 100 years when it comes to
keeping your eyes on the target.
Company founders Carl Zeiss and Ernst Abbe worked closely with the Prussian military in the
19th century to develop telescopic sights. Hensoldt AG, and its traditional HENSOLDT brand, has
been a member of the Carl Zeiss family since 1928. This is a major obligation for Carl Zeiss
Optronics GmbH today. From telescopic sights for snipers and sportsmen to optics and optronics
for tanks and artillery pieces, from residual light intensifiers and thermal imagers for poor light
conditions to periscopes and optronic masts for submarines – we provide the solutions that help
you best complete your mission.

Telescopic sights/targeting optics
Long, intermediate and short range – the right equipment for any mission – perfectly compatible
and from one source. We develop our telescopic sights and targeting optics in accordance with
this philosophy. All our products feature outstanding optical performance, an optimal ergonomic
design, robustness and reliability under all conditions.
Telescopic sights/targeting optics
Introduction
When it comes to high standards, Carl Zeiss sets the pace
Parallax compensation
Telescopic sights without parallax compensation are configured so that an object at a predefined
distance, e.g. 100 meters, is exactly imaged in the reticle plane. Objects at other ranges appear
either in front of or behind the reticle. This can lead to parallax errors when looking into the eye-
piece at a slanted angle. Telescopic sights with parallax compensation enable the user to precisely
adjust the range to avoid such errors. Our telescopic sights provide parallax adjustment from
50 m to ∞.
Reticle illumination
The reticle is equipped with continuously adjustable illumination which also permits precise target
acquisition in the twilight. The previously used brightness setting on the illuminated reticle is auto-
matically activated when the riflescope is turned on.
First or second image plane?
If the reticle is in the first image plane, its size changes congruent with the magnification. This
enables simple range determination via the magnification range without having to recalculate. The
size of a reticle in the second image plane does not change when the magnification is adjusted.
The subtension of the reticle changes with the scale of the set magnification.
First or second image planeReticle illumination Parallax compensation
3 – 12 x 56 and 4 – 16 x 56Telescopic sights
When using a telescopic sight with a night sight attachment, every centimeter counts depending
on the assembly options on the weapon. Therefore, our ambition during development of the
3 – 12 x 56 and 4 – 16 x 56 telescopic sights was to deliver maximum performance while main-
taining a short optical system.
In addition to a compact design, the adjustment range of the elevation turret also sets new
standards. The 3 – 12 x 56, for example, provides an adjustment range of 400 cm at 100 m.
The main benefits
• Very compact design
• High adjustment ranges
• Reticles in the first or second image plane
• Reticle in accordance with customer needs

1 Colored index lines and numeric values for easy orientation
3 Brilliant image quality throughout the adjustment rang.
6 – 24 x 56 and 6 – 24 x 72Long rangeTelescopic sights
The lens diameter considerably influences the optical capabilities of a telescopic sight. With
increasing magnification, the brightness of the scene diminishes. This factor plays a key role in
the military, in particular, where long ranges are common. Under adverse weather conditions
such as precipitation, twilight and haze, high magnification often leads to unwanted results.
Therefore, we have limited our 6x to 24x telescopic sights to a magnification range that is both
beneficial and noticeable to the user and combined it with a choice of a 56 mm or 72 mm lens.
Our 6 – 24 x 56 is the right telescopic sight when extremely precise adjustability and very high
magnification are required.
The main benefits
• Very high twilight performance
• Brilliant, high-contrast image even at high magnification
321
1 When even more precision is needed – click stops from 0.5 cm at 100 m enable very precise adjustment of the target line on our 6 – 24 x 56
2 The high-speed, 72 mm lens increases the twilight factory by 13 percent over the 56 mm model
3 Specifications such as the reticle or a customized finish are tailored to customer demands
1 Temperature, air pressure, cant and inclination angle sensors integrated during assembly, which is available with 0 or 30 MOA pantoscopic tilt
6 – 24 x 72 SAMLong rangeTelescopic sight
The 6 – 24 x 72 SAM telescopic sight is an innovation among telescopic sights: for the first time,
the click values of the top and side turrets, as well as relevant environmental conditions such as
air pressure and temperature are digitally displayed in the field of view.
The integrated ballistic calculator determines the required elevation and azimuth correction based
on the given ammunition, range to the target and current environmental data. The time-consuming
evaluation of shot charts is a thing of the past. This enables riflemen to achieve a very high hit
probability at long range without prior experience with a specific type of ammunition.
Because the respective ballistic values are zeroed and saved separately, completely different
types of ammunition and calibers can be used without having to readjust the system. The cost of
expensive training rounds is reduced and valuable training times can be used for other purposes.
The main benefits
• Integrated ballistic calculator
• Integrated sensors to measure environmental data
•Display of the elevation and azimuth setting in the field of view
•Significant increase of first shot hit probability
2 Fast orientation – noticeable double click every 10 clicks

1 Internal adjustment to minimize the risk of unintended adjustments caused by jolts or removal of the targeting optics
Intermediate rangeTargeting optics 4 x 30
4 x 30 targeting optics deliver excellent optical performance, particularly in adverse visibility
conditions. The twilight performance is extraordinary for targeting optics: with an exit pupil of
7.5 mm, the 4 x 30 is particularly well-suited for the twilight and practically optimized for the
human eye.
This benefit now carries over to the use of a night sight attachment. Combined with our
NSV 600, in particular, users can now take advantage of the large field of view of 140 m at
1000 m even at night. Riflemen maintain an overview despite the 4x magnification.
Optimized adjustment of the eye relief, pupil diameter and field of view with maximum edge
definition make the 4 x 30 targeting optics a superior targeting instrument for intermediate
ranges.
The main benefits
• 4x magnification with a very large field of view
• Viewing distance to the eyepiece: 6 cm
• Internal adjustment
2 Integrated Picatinny rail to attach additional equipment

Short rangeTargeting optics RSA-S reflex sight and VGN 3x magnification attachment
The RSA-S reflex sight, a compact collimator sight, is ideal for fast reaction and close quarters.
Precision optics and state-of-the-art electronics enable fast target acquisition in all situations.
Reliable engagement up to 200 m can be easily achieved. The RSA-S reflex sight is watertight
and extremely resistant to jolts and vibrations. It is designed for two-eye operation, which allows
very fast target acquisition. At only 100 g, the RSA-S is truly a lightweight instrument.
Wide ranging conditions demand flexibility and an optimal compromise between balance and
weight – on the weapon and the targeting optics. The VGN 3x magnifying adapter is used with
the RSA-S for reconnaissance and targeting at longer distances.
The main benefits
• Compact and lightweight
• Hybrid power supply
• One-button operation
• Continuously adjustable brightness of the illuminated dot
321
2 Hybrid power supply – the solar panel automatically switches to battery operation if there is insufficient light to power the sight

Observation optics
Powerful optics are measured by how well they image details at long range. Early reconnaissance
enables a well-informed decision – action instead of reaction. Spotting scopes from Carl Zeiss
Optronics set new standards by tailoring optical excellence to the needs of military missions where
desert conditions, cold or rain are often on the daily agenda.

TLS40 – the intelligent combination of a powerful laser rangefinder, integrated GPS, digital magnetic
compass (DMC) and digital camera. Unlike diode lasers, the TLS40 is equipped with a single-pulse
laser and is capable of measuring long distances even in poor visibility. Target reconnaissance has
been optimized by a 7x magnifying day channel featuring the optical quality for which Zeiss is
renowned.
Following reconnaissance and rangefinding, the TLS40 uses the internal GPS and digital compass
to project the target coordinates into the field of view. This enables fast reporting or the reliable
use of controlled high-angle fire. The device also offers interfaces for external GPS instruments such
as PLGR.
An additional, beneficial feature is the integrated digital camera which enables the capture and
storage of target images and all relevant information (range, coordinates, etc.). A short audio
commentary can be added to each photo for later evaluation.
The main benefits
• Very long range laser – even in fog
• Outstanding optical quality
• Simple, menu-guided operation

OPUS-H
With its technological configuration, OPUS-H ends the wait for a solution that eliminates the need
for other devices. The high-quality day optics with 7x magnification replaces the binoculars, the
powerful single-pulse laser the laser rangefinder.
The uncooled thermal imager not only improves reconnaissance capabilities, it also enables the use
of the laser rangefinder at night. An additional night-capable laser rangefinder is no longer required.
The day optics allow reconnaissance without power consumption: the eyes of the user are, after all,
the best daytime sensors – particularly when combined with optics from Carl Zeiss. The NIR camera
(near infrared) supports observations in hazy or foggy conditions during the day.
An additional benefit: combined with the digital compass (DMC), the integrated GPS immediately
delivers target coordinates. Thermal images can be stored with corresponding information (range,
coordinates, etc.).
The main benefits
• Powerful uncooled thermal imager
• High-quality day channel
• Powerful laser rangefinder

Night sight
Modern mission scenarios do not know the difference between night and day. Threats can arise
at any time of day. This is reason enough to turn night into day. Doing so requires maximum
performance and range. Every meter translates into extra time. Extra time makes it possible to
make the right decision.
Night sight
Introduction
Residual light intensifiers
Our night sight attachments were developed for poor-weather and nighttime missions. They do
not require start-up or warm-up time and are based on the residual light amplification principle,
making them ideal as an attachment for almost all telescopic sights on the market. All operating
elements are close together and can also be easily and accurately operated when the user is wear-
ing gloves. A fast clamping assembly on the basis of MIL-ST1913 Picatinny enables fast mounting
and removal of the device.
With this system, you only need an aligned weapon system with daylight optics. Simply mount
the night sight attachment in front of the targeting optics on the available rail to create a night
vision system. The 1:1 magnification eliminates the need to align the night vision components.
In addition to the lower weight, it is also no longer necessary to change your behavior: users can
continue using their familiar daylight optics. Particularly important for snipers: the daylight optics
do not have to be removed for nighttime missions.
Combined with an adapted 8 x 20 T* monocular, the night sight attachment transforms into a
handheld observation tool with 8x magnification.
NSV 80 is one of the first night sight attachments on the market. It is still reliably used by military and paramilitary forces the world over.

Introduction
Thermal imagers
The primary benefit of thermal imaging technology is that it works without the visible light
needed by the human eye. It detects infrared radiation and makes it visible.
For military use, this technology provides two fundamental tactical advantages: optically camou-
flaged targets can be identified because it is very difficult to effectively conceal a source of heat.
Unlike residual light intensifiers, thermal imagers can also be used during the day.
Thermal imagers are available with cooled and uncooled detectors. Cooled devices detect IR
radiation at a wavelength range of 3 – 5 µm or 8 – 12 µm and are generally more powerful than
uncooled models. However, they cost more, are heavier, noisier and need longer to cool down.
Uncooled devices are an alternative. Their detection range is 8 – 14 µm and they are considerably
lighter, more economical and immediately ready for use (approx. 5 seconds). A particular tactical
benefit: they are quiet.

Night visionIRV 600 thermal imager
Developed for assault rifles or light machine guns, the IRV 600 impresses with its high
performance.
At a size of 640 x 480 pixels, the detector offers the highest geometric resolution available
on uncooled devices. Users can choose between a large (0.5x magnification) and small
(1x magnification) field of view.
As an attachment, the IRV 600 delivers an image that can be magnified by the targeting
optics on the weapon. It can be attached and removed without adjustment.
Noiseless and ready to use in only five seconds, the IRV 600 is the right choice when
tactical requirements focus on weight and range superiority.

Specially developed for the needs of snipers, the IRV 900 does not disappoint. As an uncooled
device, it is quiet and quickly ready to use. The familiar and adjusted day optics remain on the
weapon; additional adjustments are not required.
At a size of 640 x 480 pixels, the detector offers the highest geometric resolution available on
uncooled devices. Despite its high performance, the IRV 900 impresses with its moderate weight
and compact size.
