Introduction to this Quick Guide
This guide provides information and instructions on manual entry of toric IOLs in the ‘Lens Manager’
(found under “Settings”) of the IOLMaster® 700 from ZEISS as of software version 1.88.
As different IOL manufacturers offer toric IOLs in different and sometimes inconsistent toric power
steps, the ZEISS IOLMaster 700 allows users to manually add IOLs, define the delivery range and
specifically define the spherical equivalent (SE) range, SE increment, cylinder (CYL) format, CYL range
and CYL increment.
The process of entering new toric IOLs may take some time, during which the ZEISS IOLMaster 700
cannot be used. Depending on how many IOLs and users are to be entered and the complexity of the
IOL definitions, the required time may vary between a few minutes and more than an hour.
This guide explains IOL configurations in the lens manager for toric IOLs with inconsistent step
sizes (e.g. Alcon IOL) and consistent step sizes (e.g. ZEISS IOL). It also provides respective examples.
For toric IOLs not listed in this guide, please use the examples below as templates and refer
to the respective IOL manufacturer or your ZEISS representative for further information.
Availability of IOLs and their respective power ranges and step sizes can vary regionally.
All IOL information in this document is provided without a guarantee of correctness; the
user is responsible for the correctness of all manual inputs.
All powers must be entered according to IOL labelling standards, i.e. powers are meant
to be entered on lens-plane, NOT on corneal plane, as provided by the respective IOL
manufacturer.
ZEISS also provides a database of pre-set IOLs. Users can download this via: https://www.zeiss.com/
meditec/int/resource-center/cataract-services/optimized-lens-constants.html. The same data set is
shipped with all software updates and with all new ZEISS IOLMasters. It can also be requested from the
ZEISS representative. This set of data can then be imported in whole or parts via the “lens manager”
import settings. For lenses included on this dataset manual configuration is no longer required,
unless users want to change IOL constants or ranges. If choosing to download and utilize these IOL
definitions, users are still encouraged to contact their respective IOL representative to ensure the
dataset represents the most recent updates for the manufacturer’s IOL and to modify the definitions if
needed.
If you want to use your own IOL constants with IOLs that are available in the ZEISS database, please
consider importing the IOL automatically via the download and then change the IOL constants. This is
likely to save you time in the process.

1. Log in with the respective surgeon’s account in order
to have access to the Lens Manager settings
Note:
The following procedure needs to be repeated per surgeon
account.
2. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings > IOL Management >
Click on ‘Start lens manager’
3. Click on ‘Add IOL’
4. Follow the instructions as described
in the examples below
Lens Manager: First Steps

Note:
• Formula constants used in fi gures below are an example. The user is responsible for correct entry of IOL constants,
power steps and ranges according to each IOL.
• Please contact the IOL manufacturer for optimized IOL formula constants or use your own personalized constants.
• The Alcon SN6AT (2-9) (and many other toric IOLs) lens constants and delivery ranges shown in this example can be
automatically imported into the IOLMaster 700 via the USB drive provided by ZEISS and/or downloaded from the ZEISS
website: https://www.zeiss.com/meditec/int/resource-center/cataract-services/optimized-lens-constants.html.
• If an IOL is imported via the download, you need not follow the steps below. Please confi rm the correctness of the data
with the respective IOL manufacturer’s representatives.
Adding Toric IOLs with Inconsistent CYL Power Steps and/or Individual CYL Power Labeling
1. Enter the IOL information – i.e. Manufacturer,
Name of IOL, IOL constants, etc.
2. Select IOL parameter “Toric”
3. Choose, if the IOL is delivered with Spherical Equivalent
Steps (SE) or with Spherical Steps (Sph) (In this example
SE is chosen)
4. Click on ‘Delivery range…’
66
5. In the delivery range menu, delete the pre-populated
default settings (-100 to +100D) by pressing the trash can
icon
6. For each row in the respective IOL’s table at the bottom:
Enter the SE range, SE increment, Cylinder format (Single),
Cylinder Range and Cylinder increment as well as label
and press Add
Note:
“Single” does not refer to astigmatism correction range on
the cornea plane. It refers to the cylinder availability range
on the lens plane according to the respective IOL models
labelling. See examples in table below.
7. To add a new row after one was entered, you need to
overwrite the fields on top and press Add
8. Click ‘Close’
9. Click ‘Save’
