To whom it my concern,

My name is Zak Steichen and I am an Engineering Technology student at the University of

Wisconsin – Stout, graduating this May. Stout strives to provide the best engineering and

technology education in the country. It is a polytechnic university providing hands-on

education through intensive lab-based experiences. Through my work experience and

education I feel that my strongest skills are my ability to adapt swiftly to new challenges, my

ability to balance time and task management, and my strong work ethic. I realize that my

engineering experience is limited, however I have held many jobs in manufacturing that have

given me a strong foundation of relatable skills and knowledge.

My first job was at 16 working at Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Store. As Captain of the Varsity

Tennis team in High School I was also able to make money giving private tennis lessons.

Through saving, hard work and school loans I have been able to finance the majority of my

college education.

This past year I completed a full time Manufacturing Engineering Co-op with Pentair in

Anoka, MN. This was a six-month internship from January to June. Of the four interns

hired I was the only one able to get my Co-op extended for the entire summer. I was trained

on sheet metal design, designing for safety, and how to properly dimension my drawings for

maintenance to read. Towards the end of my internship my main focuses were Lean

Engineering and troubleshooting component and electrical issues on over 50 kinds of

cooling units.

I decided to become an engineer because it is a fun and rewarding field with endless

opportunities. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you. I am available for

an interview at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Zachary Steichen
