1 How to upgrade Z710 to Android 4.1 These steps tell you how to upgrade your Z710 to Android 4.1. CAUTION: Before upgrading, make sure to back up data that you need. Do not disconnect the AC adapter or remove the microSD card during the process. The upgrade process takes about 3 minutes. 1. Have the source files ready. They are: xx-xx-Z710.zip (where xx-xx = month-date) xx-xx-PCBA.zip (where xx-xx = month-date) PHS8_Firmware_R03.001_A01.zip 2. Decompress the source files and copy the results (files and zipped folders) to the root directory of a microSD card. The list of files and zipped folders shown above is an example. Actual results vary with different versions. 3. Connect the AC adapter to Z710. 4. Insert the microSD card and power on Z710. Wait for about 10 seconds; the recovery menu should appear. Use the volume up/down button to move the highlight and use the power button to select.

How to upgrade Z710 to Android 4.1 These steps tell you how to upgrade your Z710 to Android 4.1.

CAUTION: Before upgrading, make sure to back up data that you need. Do not disconnect the AC adapter or remove the microSD card during the

process. The upgrade process takes about 3 minutes. 1. Have the source files ready. They are:

2. Decompress the source files and copy the results (files and zipped folders) to the root directory of a microSD card.

3. Connect the AC adapter to Z710.

5. Select 1) Factory Tools in the main menu.

6. In the submenu, select 1-1) Apply all updates.

Text appears line by line in the lower part of the screen to indicate the progress. When completed, the message “Package update successed” appears and the highlight returns to the first option in the menu.

7. Select 1-7) Wipe date/media, factory reset.

Text appears line by line in the lower part of the screen to indicate the progress. When completed, the message “Copy data from/factory to/data...” appears and the highlight returns to the first option in the menu.

8. Select 1-9) 3G firmware update.

Text appears line by line in the lower part of the screen to indicate the progress. When completed, the message “Firmware download succeeded” appears and the highlight returns to the first option in the menu.

9. Select 1-0) Return to main menu.

10. Select 2) Update MicroP Firmware in the main menu. (This is the final step in the whole sequence of menu selections.)

When microP firmware is updated, Z710 will automatically shut down after a 5 second countdown.

11. Remove the microSD card.

12. Power on Z710 to use the new version of Android.
