They were nominated because of their devotion to community projects like Portales MainStreet’s Adopt- A-Pot and the Kiwanis Club’s annual flower sale. Curt and Lisa Jaynes operate the business at 700 E. Canadian providing a variety of gardening and nursery supplies as well as outdoor living decor in a fabulous greenhouse space. Ambassadors and board made the presentation. The new site replaces the former location on U.S. 70 built in the 1960s. The new facility offers a fresh new look at the important ar- chaeological finds made over the decades at Blackwater Draw. Evidence links man to this area over 13,000 years ago. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. during the summer. The Chamber named Bryan Froiland and Jusitn Riley as Volunteers of the Month for June.The two Cannon Air Force Base volunteers work in building trades in the Air Force and helped the Chamber by rebuilding the mobile stage used for Heritage Days and other events througout the year. Ambassadors and board members were on hand to present the award. Chris Christensen opened a private law practice in Portales in May. Offices are located at 421 S. Ave. C, Suite D. Pre- viously with the Public Defenders Office Chris will pursue a general practice accepting a variety of cases. He and his wife Heather have raised their four daughters in Portales. His family joined Chamber Ambassadors recently to cut the ribbon at the new practice.
