What is Youth With A Mission ( YWAM ) ?

YWAM International

YWAM San Francisco Bay Area

YWAM Ember Ink

YWAM International is a global missions organization dedicated to ‘know God and make Him known’ by serving Jesus throughout the world. YWAM functions as a family of ministries rather than a centralized agency. YWAM gives room for many expressions of faith, including justice, church planting, the arts, media, family ministry, business, medicine, and much more.

YWAM San Francisco bay area is a family of YWAM ministries throughout the Bay Area. We have several ministry centers throughout and are growing every year. Tim Svoboda is the YWAM SF Bay Area coordinator and helps bring oversight to the ministry centers.

YWAM Ember Ink is the local expression of YWAM in San Jose, CA. Lead by Luke and Angela Haythorpe, Ember Ink has many programs that serve locally and abroad with the aim to connect people with the love of Jesus, respond to Him and see transformaiton in individuals, community and culture.

What does the name Ember Ink mean?In Isaiah 6:1-8, the Bible tells a story about a vision that a prophet named Isaiah had where he had seen the Lord seated on the throne and was surrounded by creatures worshiping God.

While seeing this happen before him, Isaiah was so overwhelmed by how far he was from the holiness of God and how he was not pure enough to speak to him. And while Isaiah was crying out in repentance, one of the creatures grabbed a burning coal from the altar and touched it to his lips, declaring that Isaiah was now redeemed!

Then the Lord asked, “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah then spoke, “Here I am. Send me!”

This story has inspired us to become EMBER INK. The burning coal (also known as an EMBER) which represents God’s redemption, is the fire and passion of this ministry. And INK represents telling/writing a story or leaving a mark. We are story tellers.

This is our ministry’s statement of faith, to share God’s redemption so it stays with whoever will hear it!
