Dear Daniel,

CC Technologies has completed the testing of specimens from a single anode (prefabricated from titanium mesh and coated with mixed metal oxide (MMO)) submitted by Ningbo; testing was conducted in accordance with NACE TM0294 “Testing of Embeddable ICCP Anodes for Atmospherically Exposed Steel-Reinforced Concrete” (2007 version).

The test solutions were 30 gram per liter sodium chloride solution (3% NaCl), 40 gram per liter sodium hydroxide (4% NaOH), and simulated pore water. The simulated pore water composition was 26.3 grams of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) per liter of solution,10.74 grams of potassium chloride (KCl) per liter of solution, and 2.15 grams of calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2) per liter of solution. As a part of the tests, the pore water test cells were filled with ASTM C778 sand before pouring in the solution. The NaCl and NaOH test cells were filled with solution only. All of the chemicals used to make the testsolutions were reagent grade materials. Deionized water was used to replenish solutionlosses due to evaporation.

The tests cells were one liter glass containers which contained an anode mesh test specimen, a titanium counter electrode (cathode), and a Luggin probe for potential measurements. The titanium rod (counter electrode) was 0.500 inch in diameter and 8 inches long. The gap between the anode and the cathode was maintained at two inches throughout the testing. In the NaCl and NaOH test cells, a removable Luggin probe was used for potential measurements. A semi-permanent Luggin probe was installed into each pore water / sand test cell and was not removed until the end of the evaluation. The test cells were connected in series and grouped together based on the type of solution present inside of the cell. Power was delivered to the test cells using a constant current, filtered DC power supply with a maximum ripple of 5%. The specimens were 5 cm long and 2 cm wide. Given that the samples were made from mesh material, the current was maintained at 11.4 mA to produce the target current density of 108 mA/m2. The duration of the testing period was six months (180 days).

The measurements taken during the evaluation were the cell potential, the anode potential, the cell current, and pH. Measurements were taken after 1 min, 1 hour, and 8 hours (reverse current test) and 1, 24, 168, and 336 hours and every fourteen days after that, with the final reading at 180 days (normal current test).

Tables 1 through 3 present a summary of values measured during testing. The results suggest that, in accordance with the failure criterion stipulated by the NACE TM0294, the tested samples should be considered as having had passed the test.

Magnesium anodes are commonly used in cathodic protection, as Mg metal has the more negative potential than other galvanic materials.

Howerer, in order to ensure the high quality of the magnesium anode, we not only use the high pure magnesium ingot, but also take advanced technology to insure the purity of the alloy.

Our company have developed a new casting technology over more than ten years of anode manufacturing experience. We only use the above 80% high pure alloy of the melting in casting the anode, and further the whole casting procedure is protected by inert gases so that the anodes would not contain any inpurities, such as the oxidation slag inclusion caused by solvent and burning. By adopting this developed technology our anodes can avoid the common defects brought from the conventional hand casting.

Mg High Potential Anode

Our high potential anodes are made from high purity Mg metal superior to normal indutrial standard. The anode

produced by special casting technology, have superior electrochemical properties tested according to ASTMG97-89

standard. In the course of use, the anode is consumed uniformly, thereof have a longer life.

We suggest use our high potential Mg anode in soil with resistance higher than 2000ohm.cm.

Prepackaged Mg anode (Environment safe)

Above bare Mg anodes could be supplied after being prepackaged. The bare Mg anodes will be assembled with

cable and sealed with epoxy resin, and packaged in cotton bag. As the prepackaged anodes are buried under the ground, if there is any harmful element in the backfill of prepack-aged anodes, this element will leak to the earth and groundwater when the anode is in use, which will pollute the en-vironment. Yuxi Prepackaged anodes are made of recyclable materials or easily decomposable materials and the content of harmful elements in the backfill is lower than safety standards, which will not bring any pollution to the surrounding. The available cables type (insulation / sheath ) are: PVC/PVC, XLPE/PVC, HMWPE with cable size: 6mmsq, 10mmsq, 16mmsq.

We supply series of aluminum anode for defend the corrosion of steel structures in seawater. The Performance of the anode will be affected by the chemical composition of the alloy. We adopt high purity Aluminum ingot for the an-odes. The anodes are cast automatically, thus the anode alloy is uniform, free of dust and oxides. 1.MMO Solid Rod

The research of mechanism and application development for electro-active coatings on Titanium was started in early 1980's. Various kinds of multi-elements coatings have been developed. The mixed metal oxide anode has an extremely low consumption rate, measured in terms of milligrams for ampere-year. Whether operating in soil, fresh water, and or sea water, mixed metal oxide coatings demostrate very high chemical stability even in environments with very low PH values. Yuxi's supply high performance MMO anodes suitable for soil, sea mud, seawater, and fresh water environments. In seawater, the suggested working current density is: 600 A/m2, and in fresh water :100A/m2.

3. Mixed Metal Oxide Ribbon Anode

Mixed metal oxide ribbon anodes are designed for use on both newly constructed above ground storage tanks, and existing tanks utilizing double bottom construction. They can be used in sands with various levels of moisture and salt contents without carbon backfill. The anodes are composed of a titanium ribbon substrate coated with a mixed metal oxide catalyst. This two parts composition allows for a maximum current density of 17 mA/m to achieve a 50 year design life.

High Silicon Cast Iron Anode Yuxi’s Silicon Iron anodes are made by Chill Casting in metal mould. The anodes have more high density, more

compact crystal structure and low consumption rate, thus have longer life.

Si-Fe anodes are widely used in impressed current cathodic protection of offshore structures, underground

pipelines, buried cable and so on. It is a kind of idea anode, as it has the character of low resistance, low consump-

tion and low energy consumption.

Graphite Anode

Yuxi's Graphite anodes are produced by high quality petroleum coke. The petroleum coke is mixed with petro-

leum tar and extruded into rod size. After being repeatedly sintered at very high temperature, the rod becomes high

density, high carbon content, thus have a low consumption when it is being used.

According to customer's request, Yuxi's graphite anodes are impregnated by linseed oil or by wax in order to

protect the anode from moisture.

Yuxi's graphite anodes can be supplied in following form:

a). Rod, without processing b). Rod, Hole prepared for connection

c). End connection d). Center connection

Si-Fe Tube AnodeCompare with the solid rod anode, tube anodes can:

1. Minimize the resistance of anodes to electrolytes.

2. Increase the surface to weight ratio, thus can reduce current density and distribute the

produced gases over larger areas. It is very important for deep layer installations.

3. Improve current distribution, relaxes end electric discharge, while the cable joint is lo-

cated in the center of the tube.

Suitable to use various kinds of reference electrode including zinc electrode, Ag/AgCl electrode, Cu/CuSo4 electrode. The unit’s reliability and stability is significant improved by using all serious of integration & modularization electronic circuit. The updated integration & modularization also simplified the operation and maintenance work of the unit. By using the high impedance digital meters which enable the unit’s input impedance reaches 5MΩ, the unit’s potential measurement precision is much improved. Auto error conversion system can insure the system convert to the preset constant current status at a time of the failure of the cathodic protection system, such as the potential diversification caused by instruments, anodes, circuits, reference electrode, etc. Overload protection, short protection circuits are configured to insure the safety of the unit. The unit is preinstalled with three sets of surge arrester (8-20Μs) which on anode & cathodic terminals 40KA, reference electrode terminal 40KA and AC input terminal 40KA respectively, additional surge arresters are optional. Single circuit board design which provide considerable advantage in repairing and maintenance.
