IGNITE: DRAWING WITH LIGHT 18.07.15 / 13.00–16.00 / Free / Drop in (suitable for all ages) Join artist Hardeep Sahota to create 3D drawings and illuminated sculptures using light, photography and wire. Design your own unique work of art through discovery and play.

BIG SCULPTURE DAY 19.07.15 / 11.00–15.00 / Free / Drop in (suitable for all ages) Inspired by Anthony Caro’s open-air sculpture Promenade (1996) and the Caro in Yorkshire exhibition, families are invited to construct large scale, evolving spaces in the landscape. Come along and build, using a variety of materials, or just enjoy exploring, hiding and playing within these fantastic spaces.

COME RAIN, COME SHINE: FAMILY SCULPTURE DAY Every Tuesday from 21.07.15–25.08.15 & 08+15.08.15 / 11.00 & 13.30 / £2 (suitable for all ages, booking essential) Immerse yourself in an imaginative world of sculpture making for all the family. Build gigantic towers, space creatures or even an underwater world from wood, branches, stones and other found materials.

A LIBRARY OF FORMS 25.07.15–30.08.15 (Thu–Sun) / Free (suitable for all ages) Thurs and Fri 13.00–15.00, Sat and Sun 11.00–15.00 A Library of Forms, inspired by Henry Moore’s studio at Perry Green in Herefordshire, is open at YSP Learning throughout the summer. Handle, draw and investigate a curious collection of objects and materials, both natural and man-made.

MOORE ART ADVENTURERS 01+22.08.15 / 10.30 & 13.30 / £4 (suitable for age 5+, free for supervising adults) Join an interactive storytelling adventure, inspired by Henry Moore: Back to a Land. Embark on a theatrical quest exploring the landscape, sculptures and your own imagination, to uncover unusual treasures, fantastical tales and all things unexpected.

STEPPING OUT OF THE FRAME 03.08.15 / 10.30 & 13.30 / £2 (suitable for age 7+, booking essential) Join YSP Learning to explore major exhibition Caro in Yorkshire and the paintings that inspired it. Using different materials and textures, play with shape, colour and construction to create your own unique Caro-esque sculptures.

WHISPERING WOOD FOLK: RED THREADS (OPEN-AIR THEATRE) 11+12.09.15 / 18.00 & 20.00 / Adults £10, children £5, family £28, under 5s free Journey into the YSP lakes and woodlands with the Whispering Wood Folk as they present Red Threads, an immersive intoxicating experience combining aerial acrobatics, live music and fireside storytelling for all ages.

MAKING A STATEMENT: PRINT-MAKING WORKSHOP 19.09.15 / 11.00 & 14.00 / £5 (suitable for age xxx , booking essential) Using stenciling and silk-screen printing, work with printmaker Sally Gilford to design and hand-print your own tote bag, to take away and keep, inspired by the bold slogans and artworks of artist Bob and Roberta Smith.

ROB RYAN: ARTIST TALK 09.07.15 / 19.00 / £10 Hear artist Rob Ryan speak about his career to date, from initial training at Trent Polytechnic to running his creative practice business in the East End of London. Ryan will be at YSP for a second talk on 30 October 2015.

ANTON BURDAKOV IN CONVERSATION WITH DR JON WOOD 11.07.15 / 14.30 / Free (booking essential) Join visiting artist Anton Burdakov and Dr Jon Wood, Research Curator at the Henry Moore Institute, for an informal in conversation discussing Burdakov’s evolving YSP project, Assembly.

DEREK HOWARTH: A LIVE DEMONSTRATION AND TALK 26.07.15 / 14.00–15.00 / Free (booking advised) To coincide with Henry Moore: Back to the Land, sculpture and studio assistant to Henry Moore, Derek Howarth will demonstrate the techniques of working with polystyrene, a medium introduced to Moore by Howarth and recall stories of working with Moore in his studio.

MEMORIES OF MOORE 30.07.15 / 19.00 / £12, YSP Friends £10.50 Celebrate the life of Henry Moore by exploring personal stories with those who knew the artist well, including his grandson Gus Danowski; David Mitchinson, former Head of Collections and Exhibitions at The Henry Moore Foundation; Malcolm McLeod, former Keeper of Ethnography at the British Museum; and YSP’s Founding and Executive Director, Peter Murray.

LAURA DE SANTILLANA AND ALESSANDRO DIAZ DE SANTILLANA: ARTISTS TALK 13.08.15 / 19.00 / £8 An opportunity to hear Venice-based siblings Laura de Santillana and Alessandro Diaz de Santillana talk about their exhibition in YSP’s 18th century chapel.

AFTERNOON TEA WITH DIANA BEAUMONT 18.07.15 / 14.30 / Adults £13.50, children £6 Embark on a walk and talk around the historic lakes followed by an informal afternoon tea in the Camellia House inspired by former lady of the Estate, Diana Beaumont (1765–1831).

BRETTON FAMILY PLEASURE GROUNDS: SUMMER PICNIC 15.08.15 / 17.30 / £6 Explore the Park’s woodlands and the history of the Bretton family pleasure grounds. Discover interesting follies and learn about the lavish entertainment Sir Thomas Wentworth would host. Finish with a picnic at the Greek Temple set to beautiful music.

CARO IN FOCUS 09.09.15 / 10.30 / £15 (excludes lunch) This September, YSP and The Hepworth Wakefield will host a double curatorial tour of Caro in Yorkshire. The day includes a tour of Longside Gallery with YSP Senior Curator, Helen Pheby, exploring the relationship between sculpture and painting in Caro’s work, then continues to The Hepworth Wakefield to examine the relationship between sculpture and architecture, led by Curator, Gemma Yates. Tables are reserved in The Hepworth Wakefield Café for an optional lunch. Price includes return transport to YSP.

METAL AND MIXED MEDIA DIORAMAS 19.09.15 / 10.00–16.00 / £90, concessions £85 Learn from the expertise of artist Melanie Tomlinson and create your own mixed media diorama. Taking inspiration from nature, you will develop a layered picture using printed metal foils and collage materials, learning techniques such as embossing and gilding.

Try your hand at screen-printing; discover The Lost Art of Drawing; and make and share inspiring images in Bob and Roberta Smith’s Arbroath Template workshop.

GO FIGURE: THE SHIFTING SHAPE OF THE 20TH CENTURY LIFE ROOM 05.09.15 / 10.30–16.30 / £35 (refreshments and materials included) Join Dr Hester Westley for a morning study session on the teaching of life drawing in British art schools from the mid-20th century onwards, then put the theory into practice with an afternoon life drawing session, guided by tutor Robert Westwood.
