YOUTH SOCCER VOLUNTEERS PROGRAMS IN UGANDA(section)

Description: Soccer is the most popular sport in Uganda. For
impoverished children the sport
serves as welcome escape from the struggles of daily life. For a
volunteer with an interest in
soccer and a desire to help the children of Ghana, soccer can be
an important tool for
encouraging and teaching children. This World Endeavors program
offers its participants a truly
unique and remarkable way to experience Ghana. By living and
working side-by-side with local
residents volunteers have an opportunity to make a meaningful
contribution to the community
while experiencing a total cultural immersion that cannot be
matched by conventional travel
programs.
Highlights: Uganda is a landlocked country in east Africa with
regions of dense rainforest, dry
savannah and grassy plains. Uganda is known for its thriving
tribal culture, rich exports of coffee
and cotton, and beautiful terrain. Despite its amazing landscape
and rich culture, the nation still
relies heavily on international aid to provide basic needs to
some of its poorer citizens.
CarthageABC soccer volunteer programs are in areas where help is
needed the most especially
after the rebel insurgencies and rebel activities for most of
the 22yrs in the districts of
gulu,moyo,lira and west nile region.
Upon arrival in Uganda, volunteers will be met at the airport
and taken to their
accommodations. They will receive an orientation that will
familiarize them with the local area,
the Ugandan cultural heritage, and their programs. Afterwards,
volunteers travel to their project
site where they will be introduced to their host family and
their project.
Once the placement begins, participants will receive an
additional mini-orientation at the project
site that focuses on project opportunities and responsibilities.
English is the national language,
but many languages are spoken in Uganda. While not everyone is
fluent in English, it is not
necessary that you have any knowledge of any language other than
English prior to your
placement.
Qualification.
Volunteer must have:
* English language fluency
* a desire to help the people of Uganda.
* flexibility, self-motivation, openness to a new culture and
willingness to learn
